Your Weekly PJ buys!
in Hair Type 4
So I decided to start a thread for us PJ's(hope its not one already like this). Every week, post what you bought and what you think.
So this week I bought:
Lustrasilk Shea and Mango
Refined Shea Butter
Hello Hydration
Coconut Milk
I did the coconut milk and didn't like it(really messy) but it did make my hair super soft. LSSM was ok for leave in but I haven't done anything to my hair yet so we will see. I haven't tried the HEHH yet, I'm still iffy on using it because of the cones but since everyone is raving about it and I feel like my hair need more moisture, I'm going to give it a try. I will not be buying anything else this week....nothing...
What about you!

BUT I did buy 2 containers of Lustrasilk Shea and Mango and I love how it makes my hair feel. I made a whole other concoction out of it though. I heated up some real mango butter, shea butter, and poured it into the Lustrasilk container and mixed it up. I also added a little bit of aloe vera juice and coconut oil. Yeah by the time I was done with that container it wasn't Lustrasilk anymore LOL So anyway with doing that I was able to double the container plus I knew what was really in it. I used it on myself and my daughters.

This is my first time using the mango butter. I received the shipment last week from Texas Natural Supply. I love the way it melts in my hands like shea butter does.

1. 365 Unscented Conditioner from WholeFoods
2. Natures Gate Hemp Conditioner from WholeFoods (I am so in love with hempseed)
Bought both for about $12 total
I am going to try adding more oils to both of them. The 365 was nice but not quite moisturizing enough. The NG Hemp was nicer but I still want more moisturizing. No big gripes with either product. The 365 although marketed as unscented/unfragranced has a very slight scent that I find pleasing (chamomile?). The NG Hemp scent is not overpowering and quite nice.
Yes - I would purchase both products again. :blob7:
edited to add: The NG Hemp is for dry & frizzy hair. My hair was soft (just not as soft as it can be/has been with other products) & I had bigger clumpy curls in the back of my head. I must have a different texture there. I kept rolling my fingers over the clumpy coils.
faves: suave, v05 shampoo, conditioner (my own), raw shea butter, castor oil, peanut oil, aloe juice

Just ordered created by nature shea pomade. Received a sample and I like how I don't have to work so hard to get it into my wet hair like whipped shea. Honeysuckle scent is amazing.

Qhemet Karkady Tea Mist
I also bought Giovanni Smooth as Silk Extreme Protein deep conditioner. I haven't tried it yet though.

Oh and as far as weekly PJ buys..
Yesterday I bought a box of Neem Powder ($1.75 for 1 box) and I did an oil rinse. I will never do an oil rinse ever again, I'll just stick with the paste. It was too messy and I don't like the neem & water touching my body. Yuck! My hair looks fly tho :tongue1::thumbright:

Thanks for the link to the blog. The review is spot on. I also figured out my hair would love mango butter because my main product has always been JCNS.
Pantene Relaxed and Natural Mask - I swore of Pantene but this doesn't have cyclopentasiloxane so I'm good. Comparing, I didn't find as moisturizing and the Olive & Avocado conditioner I use. It wasn't as great a detangler either but it was good. The one con I have with the Olive & Avocado is that it has alot of oils and weighs my hair down while the Pantene rinsed clean. I'll use up the Pantene but I won't repurchase.
I also bout the Giovanni Smooth as Silk conditioner. I'm going to find something from the Giovanni line that I like, shoot. I keep hearing raves but I'm returning the Direct leave-in. More producty feeling hair and too light. I can't take it. Blegh.

I really like the HH condish but I use as a leave-in. It seemed too precious to waste as a wash out to me.

I know I have a problem. I also hit the malls hard this week. I am banning myself from buying anything else for the next 6-8 weeks.
4a or 4b (or some mix of the 2) seriously in need of moisture!!!!
The Henna I found on a site, it said "100% Pure Egyptian Henna" it was for like $1.50 for 1 but if you bought 4 it was only .89each so I tried it, it was under hair dyes so we will see if it is real or fake with loads of other chemicals in it.

Where did you get a denman-like brush? My sister has been looking for a generic denman.
Oh I did end up buying some stuff this week from Walgreens because I got stuck out of town with no products:
Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner
Aussie Moist Conditioner
Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme
Long Aid
I also ordered 77$ worth of KBB products (that was with the $35 discount!) hair milk, hair butter, deep conditioner.
Blog: http://www.naturallyjunky.com
A new denman like brush - its purple and white, the first one was black and green. I loved it, barely any hair shed.
I also got some Garnier Bold It Power Putty (no cones but parabens and glycerin)
2 tubes of Garnier Fortifying DC(has cones but I've been wanting to try this for a while)
At $1 for each, I couldn't resist, especially since garnier products are about $4-7 in Walmart.
