Your Weekly PJ buys!

So I decided to start a thread for us PJ's(hope its not one already like this). Every week, post what you bought and what you think.

So this week I bought:
Lustrasilk Shea and Mango
Refined Shea Butter
Hello Hydration
Coconut Milk

I did the coconut milk and didn't like it(really messy) but it did make my hair super soft. LSSM was ok for leave in but I haven't done anything to my hair yet so we will see. I haven't tried the HEHH yet, I'm still iffy on using it because of the cones but since everyone is raving about it and I feel like my hair need more moisture, I'm going to give it a try. I will not be buying anything else this week....nothing...

What about you!

Leave In: SM Shea Butter Conditioner. SMCH Smoothie

    I refuse to believe I'm a PJ ....

BUT I did buy 2 containers of Lustrasilk Shea and Mango and I love how it makes my hair feel. I made a whole other concoction out of it though. I heated up some real mango butter, shea butter, and poured it into the Lustrasilk container and mixed it up. I also added a little bit of aloe vera juice and coconut oil. Yeah by the time I was done with that container it wasn't Lustrasilk anymore LOL So anyway with doing that I was able to double the container plus I knew what was really in it. I used it on myself and my daughters.

I want to try Mango butter so bad... I found someone on ebay who sells it but I think I'm going to have to wait until next week or next month to try it out, with bentonite clay also.

I hate shipping costs so that slows down my online pjism

let's see... ummm this week (whew! only 2 things) :angel10:

    1. 365 Unscented Conditioner from WholeFoods
    2. Natures Gate Hemp Conditioner from WholeFoods (I am so in love with hempseed)

Bought both for about $12 total

I am going to try adding more oils to both of them. The 365 was nice but not quite moisturizing enough. The NG Hemp was nicer but I still want more moisturizing. No big gripes with either product. The 365 although marketed as unscented/unfragranced has a very slight scent that I find pleasing (chamomile?). The NG Hemp scent is not overpowering and quite nice.
Yes - I would purchase both products again. :blob7:

edited to add: The NG Hemp is for dry & frizzy hair. My hair was soft (just not as soft as it can be/has been with other products) & I had bigger clumpy curls in the back of my head. I must have a different texture there. I kept rolling my fingers over the clumpy coils.
LOIS (OS); cottony, TYPE 4 hair, fine/med strands; no cones bcz my hair hates them; last relaxer '98; now low porosity:?, ignores most natural hair rules; BC #8

faves: suave, v05 shampoo, conditioner (my own), raw shea butter, castor oil, peanut oil, aloe juice

Ruh Roh! Gonna have to add mango butter to my wish list.

Just ordered created by nature shea pomade. Received a sample and I like how I don't have to work so hard to get it into my wet hair like whipped shea. Honeysuckle scent is amazing.

I bought the Giovanni Direct Leave-in. I detangles really well but leaves my hair filmy and a bit stiff. I like it enough to play with it some more though.

I also bought Giovanni Smooth as Silk Extreme Protein deep conditioner. I haven't tried it yet though.
4a/b Texlaxed hair w/ highlights. Medium texture & high porosity.

As hard as I am trying not to be a PJ I've bought the Long Aid curl activator gel, two bottles of Giovanni DLI a Ganier Fructis Deep Conditioner and a Garnier styling putty. I scored the ganier at the 99cents store. I like the putty I used it for my wash n go this morning. its has hold but is not greasy or gel like. it absorbed well and my hair feels soft. I wish I would have grabbed two i see this neing my puff's best friend. I LOVE the LA gel. I tried it once and I used too much then it flaked. Gross. but my hair was soft, so I tried again my twists were moisturized for like 5 or 6 days. I only co washed this moring to exeperiment with the new goodies. I already love GDLI hence the reason I bought two. I use it to style mine and my daughters hair, which is followed by a shea butter sealing. My hair novel is over but it's been an exciting week.

Couldn't really buy anything for hair because were setting up a bunch of karate & escrima equipment for my kids. But, sneaked the purchase below in the shopping cart due to it being food stuffs lol:

    Coconut Milk
    Aloe Vera Juice
    Cocoa Powder
    EVO Coconut Oil

We're making Choco-Vanilla (gals) and Coco-Lime (guys) hair masks this weekend.

I bought some coconut milk so I could try it for a DT once I take my twists out...I found what I think will be perfect size portions ( they are like 5oz cans from whole foods). While I was at Whole Foods I also picked up some organic ACV and rosemary essential oils.

I was at Bed Bath and Beyond and they happen to have some hair zings there so I had to indulge in that impulse buy as well.

I love Mango butter. At first, I really was thinking this is pretty good, but oh well. Now I have just in love with it. I mixed it with jojoba butter and I am able to define my curls and get a good wash n go look with my hair not poofing up just using this and a leave-in. The curls clump more also because there just isn't a lot of product in my hair to weight it down or make it look stringy. It goes in white when I use a lot but it dries really soft. Just soft, bouncy curls. Love it!

Now to answer the question, *DEEP BREATH*

Fleurzty, I just used the mango butter today with a wash n go and wow my hair is hanging better. My hair is still drying right now so later on in the day I'll take a picture of the end result. I'm going to buy a pound of this stuff next week.

Oh and as far as weekly PJ buys..

Yesterday I bought a box of Neem Powder ($1.75 for 1 box) and I did an oil rinse. I will never do an oil rinse ever again, I'll just stick with the paste. It was too messy and I don't like the neem & water touching my body. Yuck! My hair looks fly tho :tongue1::thumbright:

My last 2 experiments for awhile. I have a pretty set routine and products but I keep fooling around.

Pantene Relaxed and Natural Mask - I swore of Pantene but this doesn't have cyclopentasiloxane so I'm good. Comparing, I didn't find as moisturizing and the Olive & Avocado conditioner I use. It wasn't as great a detangler either but it was good. The one con I have with the Olive & Avocado is that it has alot of oils and weighs my hair down while the Pantene rinsed clean. I'll use up the Pantene but I won't repurchase.

I also bout the Giovanni Smooth as Silk conditioner. I'm going to find something from the Giovanni line that I like, shoot. I keep hearing raves but I'm returning the Direct leave-in. More producty feeling hair and too light. I can't take it. Blegh.

I am so embarrassed to say what I brought this week... I shop when I'm stressed and the last few weeks have been a bit trying for me. I'm also trying to get my hair super healthy so that I can color it again by the summer!

    - Aveda Moisturizing Hair Mask
    - Neutrogena Triple Moisture Conditioner
    - Elasta QP Feels Like Silk
    - Paul Mitchell The Detangler

this week so far I have bought 4 boxes of Henna. I don't think I'll buy anything else.

The Henna I found on a site, it said "100% Pure Egyptian Henna" it was for like $1.50 for 1 but if you bought 4 it was only .89each so I tried it, it was under hair dyes so we will see if it is real or fake with loads of other chemicals in it.

Where did you get a denman-like brush? My sister has been looking for a generic denman.

Oh I did end up buying some stuff this week from Walgreens because I got stuck out of town with no products:

    Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner
    Aussie Moist Conditioner
    Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme
    Long Aid

I also ordered 77$ worth of KBB products (that was with the $35 discount!) hair milk, hair butter, deep conditioner.
  • mzmillionmzmillion Posts: 874Registered Users
I went to the dollar store tonight and got a couple things.

A new denman like brush - its purple and white, the first one was black and green. I loved it, barely any hair shed.

I also got some Garnier Bold It Power Putty (no cones but parabens and glycerin)

2 tubes of Garnier Fortifying DC(has cones but I've been wanting to try this for a while)

At $1 for each, I couldn't resist, especially since garnier products are about $4-7 in Walmart.
