My Christmas baby! A little late ...

OK, I'm a little late but I just came back to work this week and life is just starting to get back to normal (with a new one and a 1 year old!)

I had my 36 wk appt. on Dec. 23 and my dr. checked me and said no dilation, my cervix was thick and not to worry, I'd be fine through Christmas and probably New Year's as well. The next morning I was feeling really sore and my braxton hicks were really strong. I went to the relatives house anyway and by that night, I just wanted my bed. Before bed I passed part of my mucous plug so I knew it would be soon. I woke up at 5 a.m. not feeling any better, woke everyone up to open presents. I figured I had at least until evening, but by 10 a.m. we started packing for the hospital, I couldn't stand the contractions anymore.
When we got there, I was 6 cm and the hospital staff was, at best, a skeleton crew. Not what you want to see when you go into labor!
I had an epidural (anesthesiologist was putting together his kids' trampoline; I felt so bad to call him out on Christmas morning) at noon and after just a few pushes my beautiful boy, Ian Ross, was born at 12:45, weighing 5 lbs. 9 oz., 20 1/2 inches long.
We couldn't decide on a name so we let my 15 year old daughter name him. She was thrilled.
My Christmas dinner was probably not as good as yours.
After a rough start with breastfeeding, we both hung in there and everything is going smooth now.

Did you do it for love? Did you do it for money? Did you do it for spite? Did you think you had to, honey?

Thanks, everyone. Breastfeeding was DEFINITELY a challenge, I went through two good rounds of mastitis and if it wasn't for my sister who BF her boys for over a year and kept my spirits up, I'd surely have quit. But we're over the hump now (I'd say the hump was the first 5-6 weeks) and it's all smooth now.

Mar, I don't know what it's like having a boy. I still call him "girly" and "little missy" all the time! Old habits die hard ...
