All this talk about beauty...What about the ugly people?

Let's flip the coin. Do you think there are truly ugly people out there or can everyone look at least pretty with a little help? (and I'm not talking scarred beyond recognition or some other outside occurence that has marred someone's good looks)
Have you ever come across someone you would classifiy as ugly? I'm talking "no alibi ugly".
What makes a person ugly to you?
There are plain looking folks out there and it's hard to classify someone as just ugly I know but be honest. Does ugly exist and if so have you met it?

Yes, ITA with IC.
Overall, I'd say I see phsically unattractive people every day, but I think most of them could be at least average if they had the time and effort (some of these people are homeless or drug addicts, etc.).
I know, I know, I really didn't answer the question at all.
Beauty is very subjective to me.
Totally agree with you.

Yes, there are truly physically unattractive people, IMO. But there are many, many, many people who would look a whole hell of a lot better if they bothered to do anything at all about their appearance.
But it is also their personalities and the things they do that help make them ugly.
Case in point:
Anyone that would do this to their body is not attractive...inside or out.
I'm sure I'll get flamed for posting that...but drugs is one of the most disgusting things you can do to yourself.
(I'm doing a bit of rambling and musing here)
Would we recognize beauty if we didn't have ugly?
I've met someone and had the reaction "damn, he's ugly!" I also have some people who, because of knowing them, I now believe are really, horribly ugly. The person who that was my initial reaction, it changed due to his personality. The people who are ugly from knowing them would most likely never be redeemable.

But at least the pews never attend yoga!
Hmm... The thing is that beauty is so different from person to person. What we like and don't like. What is ugly for some is pretty for others.
It feels down right nasty to point someone out as being ugly to me. I took a little class about Body Image at a University and it made me think lots about that stuff. How subjective it is and how someone can look pretty at first glance and then you get to know them and depending on what they are like they turn ugly (it’s like you find ugly things in their looks to match the inside) or stay pretty. Someone who doesn’t seem pretty at first that is a super nice person becomes the most beautiful looking person (like a spouse maybe?
I find it interesting (and it's a bit sad too) how the media tells us what is supposed to be pretty (and we all buy into it). And what once was looked upon as pretty changes all the time. Poodle hair was actually nice in the 80's.
Well, so I don’t like to think superficially. I refuse to! Hehe

Did anyone ever see Shallow Hal? thoguht he movie wasn't four start I was impressed with how it represented the concept of whats on the inside is what what makes you beautiful or ugly. I" thinking speifically of a scene where the nurse onthe outside was supposed ot be pretty but when you see her for what she really was she was this strung out, crone loooking like chain-smoking person.
You may find someone unattractive at first glimpse, but then you find that they're beautiful inside and soon they don't seem so unattractive anymore.
And then there are other people who look gorgeous when you first meet them, but they're just cruel or shallow on the inside, and soon that starts to shine through to the outside in how you look at them.
Changed because the "number in place of a word" thing was bugging my no-longer-14-year-old self.
I saw it. Twice. Good movie.
I remember the nurse. They made her totally nasty looking.
Perfect example, Lil Wanye:
I throw up a little just looking at him but others find him quirky and cute. *Shrug*

He's not my type but that boy is nowhere near hideous.
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.
How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.
Are you serious? I have never seen pictures of you; but, you are a very nice poster, so, I have to disagree with you. Ugliness comes from within. I do not see true ugliness anywhere except for in people's actions.

Ha ha that was funny.

I think everyone CAN look somewhat good with proper care and grooming.

Sounds like it to me. That she used to be pretty, but she's now ugly because she gained weight.
