How to get 2nd and 3rd day hair, help please?

Ok, so I just recently figured out what this 2nd and 3rd day stuff was, :oops:how do you all go about getting it? Are there special products you can put in? Sprays? I would like to check them out, also my daughter seems to get messy curls mid day and I'd like to spruce them up without having to wet her hair all over, would these hair products work for that too? Thanks much

Wish I could help you with this one...I can't get 2nd or 3rd day hair, so I'm interested in the answer to this too. Might look fine when I go to bed but when I wake up in the morning I have a random mix of frizz, striaght bits, knots and general mess.

I am not sure many of us 3a's (or 2/3 hybrids) have much luck 2nd day-ing, much less 3rd day-ing. I know for me, it's hopeless.
Hair Type: 2B/3A hybrid, I believe. Had it short for about 5 years, and have since let it grow. Layers have brought out the curl...and I haven't gone 'straight' since!

I would like to get it but I dont want to 'work' at it. Silk pillows, bonnets, plopping at night, pineappling (my hair is too short) just is too much for me to do for hair. And since I shower everyday anyways and I work from home so I can let me hair mostly air dry I just do my hair daily. On days when I do have to go to a client or to the home office - it's at least a 45 minute drive so I can run the heater in the car and by the time I have arrived I am dry.

Hmm, maybe I'll check out the deva mister right
I just usually pull it back anyway too, though would like to get away with not doing that as much. And my daughter's hair too, it'd be nice to give her a refresher mid day to spruce up her curls...though I'll try [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curly-Hair-Solutions-Curl-Keeper-p-28.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curly-hair-solutions-curl-keeper]curl keeper[/buylink] on her and see if that helps.
    Thanks for your input:)

I always get 2nd day hair, and it is usually a little bit frizzy, but not something i can't live with. Maybe I am not as fussy as some, I don't know. 2nd day I usually pull my sides back and clip with a big barrette, or do a french twist and secure with my african butterfly hair clip.

I can get 2nd and 3rd day hair. The best thing that works for me is rubbing some ojon restorative hair treatment in my hands and gently rubbing and scrunching it through my hair. Then I wear a satin sleep cap to bed. It really isn't a big deal to do and the Ojon helps condition my hair overnight so that it doesn't have much frizz. Third day hair usually doesn't look as good, so I sometimes pull the sides back.

I have been able to get 2nd and 3rd day hair doing the CG routine. I CO Wash and then condition. When I get out of the shower, I wrap a towel on my head until I get dried up and put a towel wrap on. Then I take the towel off my head and apply TiGi curls rock amplifier and then biolage gelee. I plop while I get my make up on and get dressed. Then I let my hair air dry.

On the 2nd day, I get in the shower and just wet my hair and then apply a little more gelee to areas that need it. I plop again and then let it air dry.

Same for 3rd day. 3rd day was a rare occasion for me, but I have found that it is indeed possible!

Sorry for such details, but timing is important when dealing with curly hair. I try to apply the products while it's still pretty wet. Not dripping, but not much drier than that.
    Very Curly and Thick hair.
    3a/b.
I think I have medium hair with normal to high porosity. And I need all the moisture I can get!!

    Currently using:

C: Curl Junkie Curl Assurance Smoothing
    S: Ouidad CQ/Pureology Hydrate

    LI: AG Fast Food

Stylers: AG Re:coil (super soak), then CIAB and some CHS CK on top.

    **trying CCCC & Beuticurls LI

Style: scrunch and finger curl where I see the hair is not clumping well. Diffuse.

I thought 2nd and 3rd day hair was hair you get without wetting again? Besides with a spray bottle or your hands. My hair always looks good again after I wet it and apply more products, I just can't sleep on good hair, wake up and quickly fix it and head out. I need to wet it and reapply gel.

....thoroughly is the key. I get 2nd and 3rd day hair just by spraying lightly with water, or running damp hands over the top. If you are thoroughly wetting it in the shower or whatever, that really isn't the same. That's like starting over. ;) Actually, the times I have actually rewet in the shower, I get more frizz! Even if I reapply a little CK. Weird.

I use RC's Conditioner as a leave-in/styling cream, then top with a CK. That's all I've been doing, no gel anymore. I spritz my hair and lightly run my hands over it for 2nd and 3rd day hair. I sleep on a satin pillowcase. Sometimes I pineapple, now that it's longer; I don't know that it makes that much difference, as it seems to pull out some curl. I have 3b hair with some 3c and 3a. My sis has 2b-3a hair and she can get 2-3 day hair too, although her wave/curl loosens.

I just wanted to add that Mister Right does nothing to help my 2nd day curls along. I decided it would make a good natural bug repellant for tomato plants this summer, though, because of the lavender and castor oil.

thanks all for your responses, I don't to anything to my hair at night to promote 2nd/3rd day...maybe that's the problem. I'm too lazy
As for my daughter, maybe I'll just have to spritz her mid day with a little water...do you think the SLIP would help at all? Is it conditioning enough?

I guess I'm a little under educated about 2nd and 3rd day termanology. I meant that while in the shower on 2nd or 3rd day, I run wet hand through my hair just before I get out. I don't put my head under the shower head. That's just so I can get it moist enough to add a little more product.

It might not be 2nd or 3rd day hair exactly like the CGs say it is, but it's 2nd or 3rd day hair to me! :o

ohh ok I gotta you now, I thought you meant wetting your whole head. Yes I use my hands to wet some of the parts that need it if I'm trying for 2nd day hair as well.

I like using Mister Right on my scalp for third day hair. The lavender fragrance helps freshen up the scent, and spraying a bit on my fingers and doing a gentle scalp massage helps my scalp feel cleaner. I'll scrunch the ends with whatever is left on my hands, but in general it doesn't really tame any third day frizz for me either.

Sorry, I misunderstood also. You are getting 2nd and 3rd day hair after all! :D I have sometimes done the same, just wetting my hands a bit and running them thru/over my hair. :)
