I think it did have protein. And it drives me crazy when I can't find an ingredients list anywhere, even on the product's own website.

I just ordered from GoldiLochzShop (Etsy) Long Hair Don't Care Conditioner. Can be used as a leave-in, regular conditioner, or cowash. One reviewer commented that it works well on dry hair for moisturizing. Others have said it even gets out fairy knots and is a wonderful detangler. It doesn't have coconut oil, shea butter, or aloe vera in it, so I'm hoping my hair will fall in love with it. Will come back and post the results after the first use.

I'm switching from the LA Looks Sport formula gel to the Extreme Spikes formula. Thinking maybe the castor oil will help with moisture retention, and the higher hold will give better results. Plus removing the glycerin might be a good thing. So far my waves today look ok. The Extreme Spikes has a masculine cologne type smell i guess it's marketed to men as a spiking gel. Don't know if I can tolerate it very long but we'll see.

Tonight I washed with Suave Waterfall Mist (a flavor I had never tried before!), rinsed, added AG Recoil then my LA Looks gel. I liked this combo a lot. The AG Recoil feels really nice in the hair, instantly adds definition, doesn't add a lot of drying time, makes hair super soft.

Have you tried the Bumble and Bumble Gel? It has castor oil, and it has hard hold but it is flexible. If you can't stand the Extreme Spikes gel, maybe give the B&B a shot?

Today's experiment. I haven't tried Deva products in many years. My hair didn't like them and I didn't like the smell (very chemically). But I got some samples of a few things and gave a couple of them a try tonight.
Deva Curl Buildup Buster Micellar Water Cleansing Serum. This is sulfate and silicone free but my hair still thought it was shampoo so it felt weird and tangly while I washed with this. But it did feel very clean.
Deva Curl Melt Into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask. This felt super moisturizing and kind of oily and I was almost afraid it wouldn't rinse out, but it did and my hair felt good afterwards.
These both had much better scents than the old products I had tried.
I added Oyin Shine and Define and LA Looks Sport Gel and ended up with decent hair.

I recently purchased Oyin Handmade's Hair Dew. I've been looking for a new leave-in to combat this Winter's brutally low to sub-zero dew points.

Everything in my stash hasn't been working to help me hang unto any moisture for longer than 10 hours or so in spite of daily dampenings, LOC, etc.

I received it Tuesday, so I haven't had a chance to try it as a leave-in. However, I did use it to refresh (on Tuesday) and WOWZA! My hair stayed moisturized without any refresh needed until this afternoon (it's Thurs.)!!! I'm so excited, I may just have to wash early to see how it goes!

I haven't been this excited about any product for a very long time!

Tonight's experiment - As I Am Coconut Co-wash (nice scent), Hydration Elation (super thick and hydrating), Curling Jelly, and my usual LA Looks Sport Gel.
It took forever for my hair to dry (which is why I don't like using jellies or puddings or creams). But my hair felt very soft and moisturized.

Jeepy, I have the As I Am curling Jelly.  I think I use it more in the summer.  As far as new. I broke down in the aisle of my local HyVee and bought the Shea Moisture Low Porosity Conditioner.  I like it a lot but my all time fave conditioner is a Japanese product that I order from Amazon, huge bottle for thirty something dollars; has rice protein and smells great. Is my perfect conditioner.  So those two.

I'd love to hear how you like the AG dry lift!  I've been eyeing that since it came out.

Some of the new products I've tried and loved this winter - The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian whatever stuff for split ends (can't remember the exact name).  I use this on my ends at the end of the day.  It looks a little greasy/oily, but by morning it's all absorbed into my hair and leaves me with a nice sheen and still-defined curls.  Makes for better second day hair!

I bought some Bounce Curl, which I LOVE!  I've been struggling with my hair all winter.  First time I used this, and BAM!! My curls bounced up and looked AMAZING!  I'm still having some struggles with our super low dew points and sub-freezing temps, but this stuff is working better than anything else right now.

And lastly - rice water rinses.  I don't know how this works, but it does!  I'm still experimenting with the method and recipe, but so far I'm loving it.  It's cheap, it's easy, and my hair seems to like it.

Not completely new, as I haven't been here for awhile but a few months ago I got onto using Cantu Moisturizing Curl Activator - GREAT stuff! I scrunch a good dab of this(just a bit goes a long way)after washing my hair, activating curls, and then applying LA Looks Sports gel for hold. Great combo with increased curls on my mixed 2c-3a hair. In between, to refresh curls, I spritz with water, and scrunch in just a bit of the Cantu product - works great and I get another day or two of decent-looking hair out of it before I have to wash again.:)

I have been experimenting with the products that I was gifted @jeepcurlygurl and I have to say that, like you, I like the As I Am Coconut Co-wash. The Hydration Elation was also a positive for me. I found that I only needed a smidge of the Curling Jelly Coil and Curl Definer, the first time I used it I added too much and it weighed my hair down. It is surprising how little I need, actually.

I would definitely buy the co-wash again.  ;)

Well, this is a bit of a lame experiment, but I just did my clarify+DT with Kinky Curly Come Clean + Camille Rose Naturals Algae Treatment, and I'm pretty happy with it. I just did a regular wash with the KC Come Clean, and then I applied the CRN Algae Treatment generously, put on a shower cap and a turbie twist over that for 25 minutes. The KC Come Clean wasn't really harsh, but did seem to clarify. The CRN Algae Treatment was definitely moisturizing. I liked how soft if left my hair. It smells like cookies, which smelled really good, but made me hungry!

Until now, I have been doing my clarify+DT with VO5 Normal Shampoo + VO5 Conditioner. It did the job, but my scalp was always kind of itchy and had bumps for a few days after I used these. I'm glad I can give them up now.

I've been using Deva Heaven in hair as a leave in over the One Condition Decadence that I partially rinse out. Love it. It has soooo much slip. My hair does feel slightly producty at first, but then it gets softer as the day/days go by.  I'm going to try it without the One Condition, but I think I have finally found a really good combination of products to suit my hair.  I use the No Poo Decadence as well.  That is my absolute favorite cleanser I've ever used.

@jeepcurlygurl I’ve been using an organic line by My Curly Girls. Their Silky Sunflower Smoothie is awesome. They don’t use glycerin or nut butters. I like how their stuff makes my hair moisturized. and it’s like 10 bucks. Here’s the site www.mycurlygirls.com let me know if it works out. Good luck 🌸

Hi everyone! I just want to share this new natural hair care product that I'm using. I got it from Amazon. It's Aquableu shampoo and conditioner and I just love how it made my hair shinier and healthier. They also have a website https://aquableu.com/ - you might want to check it out. Plus they are donating part of their revenue to team trees. 😉
