  I am so happy to see this thread! I love coming up with gift ideas! The zombie kit is brilliant.
  
  We're going on vacation this Christmas and we won't be around most of the family, but I'll be getting/making things for my immediate family, my boyfriend, and his parents.

  I'm not very inventive with gifts, but I start shopping early. As of yesterday, I'm 77% finished. (I have an app).
  
  I buy for my immediate family (10 people) my boss and two coworkers and a handful of friends.
  
  I'm on a bracelet kick this year so several people are getting bracelets as part of their gift. I'm really loving mantrabands and some silk wrap ones I found on etsy. I also found some cheaper cord type ones to stack that will suit a few of the people on my list.

  Since I'm a manager at work, Christmas shopping is ridiculous. I have 17 people who report to me and it's customary in my department that managers get small gifts for their employees. Then there are 3 other managers and my boss, and the 5 of us do a gift exchange. Then there's the department secret Santa (at least that one includes a list). Then there's the $75 that I have to chip in towards the party itself (the managers split the cost).
  Then there's my actual family and friends...
  Needless to say, I literally spend the entire year brainstorming. Will probably start my shopping this week now that I'm up and moving. I generally like to have all of my shopping done before thanksgiving.

  Nope. Not done a thing and I more than likely won't until a few days before. I almost had a heart attack when I saw half a store shelf filled with Halloween decorations and the other half filled with Christmas a few days ago. Already!
  
  I'm still sticking with gift cards but I do normally buy my mom a little something extra. I am not sure what that will be this year. I'll spot it and know.

  Scrills, you are sitting on a goldmine! Either sell the idea or find a way to manufacture a bunch of those kits. I want to buy one for my brother. What would you charge? So clever - I love it. I think you could make a fortune.

  I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

  I love you ladies. The only people I could share the idea with are the ones I'm giving it to. and I've been so excited I've been dying to talk to someone about it. I also found a two pack of crossbow pistols for $30. they are going to look super sweet in the case
  
  There is a group selling them for $100 bucks. Im nervous about selling weapons but I would def sell the case with the words on the front and the pegs to hold everything in place.

  It's the employee gifts that give me the biggest headache, just because they really have to be pretty much the same and one employee is male, so it has to be gender neutral. Plus trying to keep it fairly inexpensive because of the sheer quantity. Two years ago it was small candles and anti-bac gel from Bath and Body Works. Last year it was a stress relief kit with a small wooden puzzle challenge an a mini container of Play-Doh (I stole the Play-Doh idea from my freshman year RA). I'm still trying to figure out a plan for this year.

  Corrinna, can you just bake cookies and do individual bags of cookies? (or candy?) it seems like a ridiculous amount of employees you have to buy for!! Can you guys do a potluck and you provide the main dish and have them bring in sides?

  I try to keep it under $10 a person. I've done cookies before (I have an amazing German butter cookie recipe passed down from my great-grandfather's family). I actually do cookies anyway, but started just bringing in one tray instead of individual bags because the amount of baking became absurd. I'm the only one in the family who ever bakes the cookies, so I get requests from family as well. Lately it's been in the range of 60 dozen cookies (they're on the smaller side, so it takes more cookies to look like a substantial plate). It's a full weekend project. And I don't know how I'll do with the cookie press this year while I'm still healing.

  I'm pretty much done. I start right after Christmas and get a bunch of stuff on sale. Then I forget about it til fall and start up again. I have 2 big tubs in the closet where I store things year round. I buy for quite a few people so waiting til the last minute is just too stressful.
  Some of the things this year include wind chimes, lots of bath and hair stuff, make up and nail polish, dangly purse fobs, cookbooks, decorative items, gardening items, homemade soap, a watch, Origami Owl items, jewelry, locally made items (honey, maple syrup, wine, etc), a warm winter hat with a wolf on the front, a wall plaque to put wine corks in, an indoor waterfall, tools, calendars.
  And my sisters will also each get a fun bag of food related items that remind us of our mom and our growing up years (Kraft Dinner, Nestle's Quick, Cap'n Crunch, Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup, Campbell's Tomato Soup, Bisquick, etc).

  So let me just warn you, I am all about kits. I am giving a Zombie kit, I just did a hangover kit, I am working on a welcome wedding kit, an ice cream kit. I love coming up with ideas. I have about 5 male co-workers to give to so I will be coming up with a kit. I am leaning towards a " Made in Cleveland" kit since it is my team from Pittsburgh

  You are so creative with your gifts. When I've done employee gifts, I did small Godiva chocolate boxes (my fave!), or gift cards for whatever amount I wanted to spend per person that year. And they are gender-neutral. My employees LOVED the gift cards, so I continued that for a few years (changed the variety of merchants each year) and made it into the "draw numbers and swipe the g.c. you like from the person who went before you" -- or WHADDEVAH that game is called. They loved doing that and they all ended up with the g.c.'s that they "really" wanted even though they were all to useful places. So easy for me and they were happy! Win win.

  One nice gift idea for miscellaneous people on your list is chocolate covered figs (with sea salt). I made some last year in a big batch and packaged them in groups of four in little boxes. They're really decadent so you can make a lot and still have a lot to give away!

  Target also has really nice t-shirts. By Mossimo. They're really soft, inexpensive, wear really well and they don't shrink in the wash. They're my go-to brand for my boyfriend, but it'd be great to just get a bunch of t-shirts to give away to hard-to-buy-for males.
