Morning hair - before & afters

sixelamysixelamy Posts: 4,156Registered Users Curl Neophyte
Ladies and gents, what does your hair look like in the morning before and after you refresh?

Post pictures, and tell us what your overnight routine is, what is working, and/or what is not, and your refresher technique.

It's one thing to tell someone your routine, but it's another to actually see what happens when you do it.

I'll post my pictures tomorrow.

I can't get second day hair to save my life so it'll be interesting to see if anyone has hair that looks like mine in a morning (God forbid!) and if so, what they do to get it looking decent. There may yet be hope for me.

Starmie, Me either! I will allow myself to have 2nd day hair now and then if I'm staying home but never to work. I look like the Doc from back to the future when I wake up. I say I have hair elves that visit me at night. Sit on my pillow and pull on my hair.

After my hair had almost dried.

I still can't find a good nighttime routine. I don't pinepple, because my hair is too short. The satin pillowcase is better than the cotton, but still not good.

I cup my hands under the faucet and get water to smooth onto my hair in sections, and squeeze to make sure all the layers get wet. I do this just so my hair is wet, not soaking wet.

Then I apply KCCC to the canopy, underneath layer, then scrunch.

I diffused this morning to about 80% dry, because I was in a hurry to get pictures. Some days I diffuse, some days I don't.

After it was mostly dry, I scrunch the crunch out, tip my head upside down and fluff and scrunch, then give it a good shake, and flip it up fast and position.

I pineapple every night. It gives me decent volume. In the morning I slowly take the pony tail off & then shake my hair from scalp. I try my best not to touch the top so I don't get crown frizz. I then use a little CO to seperate my curls to make my hair have the appearance of more thickness. Since this is second day hair I don't add gel or water that is usually for 3rd day hair for me.

P.S don't mind the bottom curl left behind on my pineapple pic haha.

My hair can't be pineappled yet, so I just spread it around my head when I lie on the pillow. I never toss so it "mostly" stays intact.

Bottom part of picture is part of day one hair, pre-SOTC. The first four blocks are morning hair, with the fourth block as my "after" hair. Since I was heading out to a dance class, I didn't fuss with it as much as I did when I returned from the dance class; the last two blocks was my hair in the afternoon.

See, it's just as I feared - no-one (yet!) has hair that looks remotely like the mess that is my morning hair.

No pic's to share at this time but when mine reaches a good length it typically looks the same as it did when I went to bed. When it is short, that is a completely different ball game. I wake up looking like I was visited by an 80's hair band in my slumber.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

My routine is simple -- before bed, I flip my head upside down, stretch open the band of my sleep cap and pull it over my hair.

When I get up in the morning, first I laugh at how ridiculous my hair looks when I take the cap off. Then I slide my hands under my hair (by the nape of my neck) and fluff it up, then rearrange any stray strands. If I have a particularly wonky piece of hair, I'll wet it with water and scrunch it into place. Generally, though, I just take the cap off and fluff my hair.

The pictures are: Cap on; right after cap comes off (one of my cats decided to join me at this point); and after my hair is settled into place. The slightly maniacal smile is because we're in the midst of our eleventy-millionth Winter Storm Watch here in Illinois, with 4-8 inches of snow predicted. :confused3:

This one came from Wal-Mart -- it was less than $3. I had a similar one from Sally Beauty before that, for about the same price. I love them! :)
