Can't have second day hair because it gets so tangled!!!

in Hair Type 3
Hey everyone I have very very very thick, long hair, that I can never detangle. I try to comb through it when it is covered in conditioner, however, all that happens is the comb ends up stuck in my hair. So after I get out of the shower, I end up having to brush it for 5 minutes. And also, after my hair is dry after two hours I can not even run my hands through my hair without it tangling my hair. This issue obviously prevents me from second day hair because then it will look all matted and if I out any product in it my hair just looks worse!
Has anyone else had this problem???
I could really use some help!!
Thank you!

Have you tried finger detangling?
Brushing can cause more tangles and even breakage so I would suggest to not do that.
How do you comb your hair (when full of conditioner)? Do you start from the bottom up or from the top down?
I used to detangle using a comb and then I went to finger detangling. It is a lot more gentle and you can take the knots out easier because you aren't ripping the hair out of the knots.
What kind of detangling conditioner do you use? I am a strong advocate for Deva Curl One Condition, Yes to Carrots, and even Kinky Curly Knot today. Each of those conditioners help with detangling.

Finger detangle your hair patiently in the shower when dripping wet and coated in handfuls of a slippy conditioner. Then move onto a very wide tooth detangling comb in small sections starting from the bottom and working up. Do not ever brush your hair, especially not when wet you will damage your hair which longer term leads to yet more tangling and frizz.
Also do not run your fingers through your hair between washes, again that contributes to frizz by breaking up the curls. Our hair behaves differently to straight hair so don't expect to treat it the same. Use a satin pillowcase or sleep cap plus 'pineapple' or loose braid at night.
