Thinning hair ! :(
So my hair has been thinning slowly since maybe July or August . It's starting to become very noticeable and I have lost about 50% of my hair . I went to the doctor because I was worried , turns out I was iron deficient and I may have alopecia or some other autoimmune disease . I have a follow up appointment with a dermatologist In a couple weeks , I'm really excited ( weird I know , lol ) hopefully they can give me a cream of some sort to stop the hair from falling out . It's really depressing cause I'm scared to touch my hair cause everytime I do chunks of hair just fall out so easily . I'm really tired of losing hair everytime I touch it

I haven't seen Sunsilk around me in a good while, but last time I looked, their ingredients were far from CG - just the shampoo contained both sulfates and silicones. Maybe just look for basic products - shampoo and conditioner - with hair-friendlier ingredients.
Looked on line and couldn't find anywhere that actually listed their ingredients, even Unilever's own site. I did find one other than theirs that discussed them somewhat, and it specificially mentioned both sulfates and silicones, so doesn't look like they've changed that.
Fine hair can almost always use regular doses of protein - it sounds like that may be actually be what you mean rather than thin, though they often go hand in hand. Protein will make it stronger and less prone to breakage. I love Spiral Solutions repairing protein treatment, available here in Curlmart, but you can also find plenty of others or make your own. You can find help with that here.

If it's autoimmune, there is a lot you can do. You want to stop the autoimmune process and calm that inflammation. It can be done.
I have lupus and have seen 5 different rheumatologist and not one suggested any of these steps.

Make sure you're getting all the nutrients that you need especially fish oil, quality probiotic magnesium (use glycinate or malate), iron, vit B 100 Complex, vit D (make sure your levels are optimal NOT just normal) are good starting points. I use the Energy Revitalization Powder as it replaces 30-50 tablets. It's a great multi vitamin.
Thyroid- make sure it's functioning properly. Make the dr treat your symptoms as needed and not just your TSH level. Most drs will test your thyroid by doing a simple TSH test.. when that test comes back normal, they declare your thyroid normal... well it's not that easy! Lab Testing Is NOT Reliable! | Vitality 101
Hope this helps.

Update Dairy Consumption and Hairloss
Also, I know that many asian people use ginger to fight hairloss. Grate the ginger (to especially get the 'juice' out) and massage it on the scalp at places where the hair is thinning or falling. The ginger stimulates the blood circulations, encouraging hair growth.
I hope it helps. Good luck
When taking something like the cod oil, the EPO, or many of the other things that are progesterone or estrogen would it be right to "assume" that these should be taken with the cycle rather than against?
After you ovulate progesterone goes up so would one want to be aware of these things?
Hi there,
Have you tried taking biotin? There are many reports and studies showing how biotin work for thinning hair and I've proven it to myself after taking biotin for a year and a half. I used to have a very thin hair and have experienced bad hair fall. My doctor included biotin in my daily supplement that I should take. Today, my hair's more healthy and looking good. No more hair fall and my scalp feels stronger. Biotin really works. If yu're unsure what biotin supplement you should take, you may checkout biotin from Hercules Vitamins.
Why are you taking cod liver oil or evening primrose oil? If it's for the omega-3s DHA and EPA and omega-6 GLA, triple strength fish body oils and borage oil are far better sources, you will overdose on vitamin D from CLO before you get enough omega-3s to affect your hormones and reduce systemic inflammation. Better still eat oily fish, very few of us need GLA we manufacture it fine from the excessive amount of omega-6s in our diet.
Omega-3s are needed in balance with omega-6s, not a balance from one supplement to another but a balance within the entire diet including those found in any nuts, seeds, grains and vegetable oils we consume. DHA and EPA are not simply used for hormone balance they are key to the health of every cell, tissue and organ in the body so used daily year round. If the supply is insufficient the body will prioritise or substitute a less effective alternative. People with certain dermatological conditions have the wrong balance of fatty acids in their sebum for example.
Best sources of haem iron by far are organ meats like liver. Humans evolved eating organ meats regularly, eating fish and other seafood on a daily basis, supplements are additions to a balanced varied wholefood diet not replacements. If your overall diet is pro inflammatory - it is for the vast majority of westerners - popping a few pills will make scant difference.

Hello there
I strongly agree with you about Omega 3 fatty acids. I have my regular intake of Omega 3 Fatty acids by taking Hercules Fish Oil. Fish Oil contains DHA and EPA, two essential fatty acids that help support and maintain the cardiovascular system. In scientific research, Fish Oil is shown to maintain cholesterol levels already within the normal range and to support blood pressure also within the normal range.* In addition to benefitting heart health, the omega-3 fatty acid DHA benefits the brain.* The brain is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, especially the omega-3 essential fatty acid DHA. Obtaining sufficient omega-3 is crucial for brain health, especially, cognitive function and mood.* For women, fatty acids in Fish Oil are also shown to reduce the discomforts of PMS and menopause.
I maybe be drifting to the topic but I just want to emphasize the importance of omega 3 fatty acids to our body. Not only to our hair but as well as in our overall health.
