Before I ever wet my hair I coat the ends with unrefined virgin coconut oil. 2-3 times a week I wash my scalp with Garnier Fructis Scalp Solutions Anti-dandruff Conditioner. I let it sit on my scalp for 5 minutes before rinsing. Then, I use Alberto V05 Shea Cashmere conditioner on my hair. I rake it through, then scrunch upwards. I scrunch in a little bit of cold water after the conditioners is applied to rinse just a bit out. I dry my hair with a couple old cotton t-shirts, then put some Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Gel in my hair. I also rake this through and then scrunch, applying a half-quarter size amount into each section of my hair. Then I let my hair air-dry. When I go to sleep I make sure my hair is fully dry, or it turns out wonky. I pineapple it with a scrunchie not looped around so that it's nice and loose, like its just tight enough to secure my hair lightly. Then the next day I have good curls. To restyle I might use a bit of water or maybe more gel, sometimes all I have to do is take it out of the pineapple. I only wash my hair at night, so I rely on a good second-day method. Besides washing my scalp a couple times a week, I wet my hair and apply more conditioner every day.

Wash once a week with devacurl low-poo.
Other then that, i co-wash every other day with suave naturals coconut conditioner. Then apply a tiny bit of devacurl one conditioner...leave on for a few mins. I rinse out completely because my hair gets weighed down with
leave ins. Scrunch while rinsing with head upside down. Then with soaking wet hair, scrunch in product (i use several different products,.depending on the day..devacurl foam, curl keeper, or kinky curly custard) then i immediately scrunch in devacurl Arc angel gel....plop for 5mins. Then diffuse, and i also use jaw clips to help my bangs lay right, and to get volume.

First, I wash with a l'oreal conditioner or Daiso (co-wash I found here in Japan). I gently massage my scalp while washing.
Sometimes I wash with a low-poo instead; to remove hard water build up or when I've applied a lot of oils for a while. But I definitely prefer co-washing because my hair gets dry easily and is practically never greasy.
Second, I apply Desert Essence Red Raspberry as a RO. I detangle, usually with fingers, sometimes with a wide-tooth comb. I let it sit in my hair for a while, and then I rinse it out.
Third (though I only do this once a week), I rinse my hair with icy cold chamomile tea. I make sure it's cold to add extra shine to my hair. I don't rinse it out. If I don't use chamomile tea I simply rinse my hair with icy cold water in the sink.
Fourth, I scrunch leave-in conditioner (either Beauty Without Cruelty or Kinky Curly Knot Today) in my hair.
Fifth, I seal from my ends to about 10 centimeters up with jojoba oil.
Sixth, I scunch mousse (The Jane Carter Solution Wrap & Roll) in my hair.
Seventh, I scrunch gel in my hair, usually Kiss My Face Upper Management gel.
Eighth, I plop for 15-20 minutes.
Ninth, I let it air dry.
Ordered a diffuser blowdryer though, can't wait to try it out.
I do this routine once every two days. Every night before I go to sleep I massage my scalp with Jamaican Black castor oil and coconut oil. Once a week I do an intensive oil treatment and protein treatment. But I think I'm going to do my protein treatment more often, it seems my hair can't get enough of proteins

I've only been doing the CG method for about 9 months now. Still tweaking the process, but this seems to be working well so far.
I co-wash every 1-2 days with L'Oreal EverStrong Bodifying conditioner. Since going CG I've only shampooed two or three times, and that's only if it seems like my hair is getting dull or feels like there's build up.
I use the same product to condition more heavily after I've massaged away all the dirt and oil on my scalp. I usually use 1-2 palmfuls for this. In Curly Girl, Massey talks about using enough to get your hair slippery, similar to the feel of seaweed when it's under water. I try to keep that in mind, then leave in for the rest of my shower.
After I rinse, I scrunch out some of the excess water with my hands, then start to scrunch more out with a microfiber towel.
Once my hair is no longer dripping, I put in a shallow palmful of L'Oreal EveryStyle Strong Hold gel. This is the only gel I've used since I started the CG method, other than L'Oreal's curly gel. The curly stuff DID NOT WORK, made my hair totally lifeless and limp. But the Strong Hold works great for me. {I'd be interested to hear if anyone has a strong opinion on drugstore vs salon products.} I like to put in a fair amount of gel, because I like a pretty solid gel cast. My hair tends to be too soft/has no texture if I don't use enough. After I apply the gel I scrunch the hell out of it, first with my hands, then scrunch some more with a microfiber towel.
After that I plop using the same towel. I do this for at least 15 minutes, but to be honest I work from home and once I sit down at my computer I lose all track of time, so sometimes I leave it up for nearly an hour. Then I take it down and let it air dry, which usually takes at least another half hour or so.
Once totally dry, I'll scrunch out the crunch, then run my fingers under my hair along my scalp and sort of shake everything loose. I'll flip my hair upside down and do this as well.
Then I'm good to go.
My hair is a bit on the thin side, and it's barely at my shoulders now (I'm growing it out). So far my luck with second-day hair is 50-50, but once it's long enough to put up on a decent loose ponytail on my head when I sleep I think it'll be a lot better. I do tend to use B&B hair powder on my hair the next day if I don't have time to co-wash.

Then I cowash with TJ's TTT rubbing the scalp vigorously with the pads of my fingers.
Third, I condition with Shea moisture (gold label) and rinse upside down, in cold water. I comb with wide tooth comb if I need, but I try to use fingers first. I usually need the comb.
Then I put about a quarter sized dollop of tresemee in my palms, and spread over the nape, and then around my face, then scrunch in. I run my hair under the shower for a couple seconds to clump the hair back up.
Then I scrunch in homemade fsg, squeezing out the extra water.
After that I add sm smoothie and plop. After the plop I add curls gel-es-c (CG friendly at target), then I add KCCC and diffuse.
My hair is awesome and better than ever, I've been CG for 4 months.

2nd day hair- sometimes I scrunch in some FSG, spritz a little water, or just wear my hair up. I rarely do any touch ups anymore though....usually just put it up and go.
***although I can get away with using FSG, Mudd, CK or even Tresseme naturals conditioner/oil as my sole styler, I find I get better 2nd and sometimes 3rd day hair if I add a gel to my routine.
Morning: Stick head in shower and rinse with cold water until somewhat-damp. Detangle with a light conditioner (which I leave in), then finger-comb styling product (with decent hold) through my hair. Let air-dry.

Hey Houseofcurls! Do you find that adding the KCCC after you plop rather than before plopping gives you better results? I've just started using sm smoothie followed by KCCC and afterwards plopping, but my ends sometimes lost their hold- probably because the gel gets absorbed into the t-shirt. I think I might try plopping before adding the KCCC if it seems to work well for you!

I know you didn't ask this of me, but I thought I'd offer my two cents
I have also started scrunching in some additional KCCC after I plop. I got the idea from smasters technique where she adds more KCCC to damp hair part way through diffusing. I don't diffuse very often, but I figured the same principle would apply even when air drying. I've found that this helps keep my ends from drying out/frizzing/losing definition and gives me a little more hold and shine. Love it.

In my stash:
Shampoos and conditioners- Tresemme Naturals Low Poo, Tresemme Naturals Moisturizing Aloe, Suave Naturals Coconut
Leave Ins- Kinky Curly Knot Today
Stylers- KCCC, AG Recoil, KY Lubricant (yup), SM Curl Milk
Gels- Ecostyler, Biosilk RHG
Mousse- Devacurl Uplifting Foam, Suave Captivating Curls
1. Co-wash with Suave Naturals Aloe and Waterlily - Rake it in and gently scrub my scalp, then flip over and comb through with my Denman brush (ice queen method). I comb it all upside down, but because it's a weird length, I then section off the bottom part and comb it back down (hard to explain - top half of my hair is hanging upside down, while the bottom half is combed flat against my neck). This prevents the bottom of my hair from getting caught up with the rest at the back of my head and being weird and matted. Super important to make sure that no hair is caught between up and down or it'll get matted and gross!
Then I let it sit for a minute or two, gently flipping my head right-side up so the hair isn't in my face - I don't get a ton of part control with this, but the volume makes up for it.
2. Rinse (usually at regular temperature) and add in my RO - lately I'm using Garnier Sleek and Shine (it's CG and has good slip). I scrunch it in upside down for the seaweed feeling (watching out for the pieces that I sectioned out, which I scrunch in the other direction - I find that they tend to stay separated on their own when I flip back upside down, so I just make sure I don't catch them up with the other hair) and let it sit for as long as it takes me to do everything else in the shower (shave, wash up).
3. Cold/cool water rinse upside down - I let the water soak into my hair until it's completely saturated and the curls are clumping
4. I use the Suave as a leave-in as well, but sometimes I switch it up with my RO. I gently scrunch a nickel sized amount in upside down (after reading this thread, I think I'm going to start sticking my head back under the water for more clumping because by the time I add my gel the curls are starting to separate from being manhandled too much
5. I scrunch in a small amount of my product (less is more for my hair), usually AG Re:Coil or KCCC or TiGi mousse. I usually only use one because my hair gets too weighed down if I mix.
6. I add my gel to set, BRHG - this is the best way for me to get second day hair, it never fails and my hair loves it. I've never found another gel that makes my hair as soft and clumpy and scrunches out so easily, or that gives me second day. I add that in upside down as well, hopefully with my hair still as wet as possible (again, I think adding more water is a great idea - I find super soaker doesn't work so well for me just practically at the sink, so sticking my head back under the water might work!)
I also sometimes do the scrunch method where I scrunch the same section gently seven or eight times - I'm not sure if this is doing anything for me but I give it a try!
7. I plop with a cotton long-sleeved t-shirt - microfiber towels suck out too much moisture for me and my hair gets some halo frizz. I leave that for five to ten minutes while I dry off and get dressed. Air drying actually makes my hair look the best, but drip-dry is not the wisest idea during a midwest winter!
I've experimented with brushing in product , but usually once I brush in my initial conditioner the curls are already forming, and I use the scrunching in of all the other products to encourage them to set. I especially never, ever comb in KCCC - that stuff is like glue in my hair and once it gets going there's no rearranging it!
For second day hair, I use the BRHG and I sleep on a satin pillowcase - my best second day hair is when I sleep with a satin sleep cap, but for vanity reasons I don't use it anymore lol
I also LOVE apple cider vinegar rinses - I try to do one fewer than twice a month, but when I live at school we have super hard water and my hair always feels coated with gunk and ACV is the only thing that makes it better.
Hair type: Fine, fairly porous, shoulder length when curly. Probably a 3a or 3b with tight ringlets now that it's getting longer. Hair loves aloe, hates glycerin.
Co-Wash: Suave Naturals Aloe and Waterlily (my HG conditioner!)
Rinse Out: Garnier Sleek and Shine, Trevor Sorbie curl conditioner (UK only, unfortunately)
Stylers: KCCC, AG Re:coil, TIGI mousse, but open to suggestions!
Gels: BRHG (my one and only)
CG since 03/28/09
Holy cow, I thought I was the only one in the world who did this!! I do it after wash/conditioner but before I add product, though. I keep a hair clip in my shower and I use it to clip all of the bottom section together at the nape of my neck (like a low ponytail) and it helps to keep that part from flipping over my head along with the top section.
2c/3a, fine, low porosity.
Poo: Garnier Fructis Pure Clean (yes, it has A Sulfate!!, but I have Teflon hair)
Co-wash (when I feel so inclined, which isn't often!): VO5 Kiwi Lime Clarifying Conditioner
Conditioner/LI: same for both -- whatever I have in the shower at the time (I experiment a lot)
Style: EcoStyler Olive Oil
Dry: Diffuse or air dry, or both...depends on my mood
I wash my hair every 2/3 days (usually 3 if I can help it- sometimes 4 if I'm doing absolutely nothing!).
- Co-wash with L'Oreal EverCreme clarifying conditioner, mostly I just keep it to my scalp because the pump is so freakin annoying and I don't love the smell at all, but it's made my hair so soft and lovely so...
- Rinse out Just Bee Naturals Soy & Pomegranate Conditioner OR Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Conditioner (I usually use the icequeen method here, but I always use a huge palmful because I'm always trying to add more moisture- I mostly aim for the squishy seaweed feeling!)
- I used to use TresEmme Naturals moisture, but after a while it made my scalp SUPER itchy so, it's been cut for a while.
- if I'm feeling up to it I do most of it upside down, but I have a pretty crappy neck and my scoliosis has been giving me heck lately so often I just don't, but it definitely gives me better volume when I do!
- that's pretty much it for my IN the shower routine, I usually do the conditioners first and leave them in my hair the duration of my shower, but I also always rinse it all out because I really just dislike the feeling of leaving it in. My curl pattern is pretty weak too, so I usually cup my hair in my hands for most of the shower (when it's under the water directly anyway) to try and not mess that up too much with the stream
- OKAY SO then I scrunch out some of the moisture w/ a tshirt, because my hair is super low porosity and if it's soaking wet nothing soaks in
- then I smooth & rake through a leave in, either the Yes to Carrots Leave in Conditioner or Live Clean Exotic Argan Oil Smooth&Shine stuff
- then I supersoaker my hair to get some moisture BACK in (so complicated right? but it definitely reduces frizz & promotes GOOD clumps in my stupid clumpy hair!)
- then I smooth & scrunch in some gel, right now it alternates between the Herbal Essences Totally Twisted curl scrunching gel which is okay, and the Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Styling Gel (which gives me AWESOME definition, is great for frizz reducing, and actually gives me second day hair!)
- then I plop in the wet tshirt I used for scrunching earlier, usually for as long as I have or remember, so often 20+ minutes
- currently I SOTC with either a tiny bit of JoJoBa, or slightly damp hands, but also often nothing
Before I go to bed, I always try and massage my scalp upside down for a couple minutes. I'm trying to grow to as much as possible, but also I just really like scalp massages. Sometimes I use a little jojoba or grapeseed oil, sometimes I don't. But it's a lovely routine!
To get second day hair, I have to sleep with my hair pineapple-d (which is still a little tough, as parts of it aren't yet long enough for that...) and tied with a small satin-y scarf I've got instead of a pony tail elastic or scrunchie, and my pillows covered in a silk scarf to reduce friction etc.
Then in the morning I usually wet my hands and run them over my hair & scrunch softly- sometimes I'll add a tiny bit of water or spray with a lavender water/jojoba mixture.
For the most part, I can even get pretty good 2nd day hair and even a little bit of 3rd day curl with this method, but usually it's third day ponytail because, again, my curl pattern is pretty loose and most of it by then has fallen into annoying half-waves (but in a pony it still looks pretty good).
I'm still searching for stuff to reduce frizz (my biggest challenge) and get maybe just a little more root lift/definition. I really want to try some of the more "well known" products, especially ones without protein because I don't think my hair really needs it, and I'm getting really frustrated with my limited Canadian drug store options!
Hope that mass of information helps in some way though!

I'm not going to mention any brands because my brand preferences are always changing because I like to experiment.
Daily:
-Co-wash with conditioner in the shower (let the conditioner sit in my hair for the remainder of my shower, rinse out before I get out)
-Let my hair dry as much as possible in a t-shirt turban (5-10 minutes)
-Styling: Lots of leave-in conditioner, a few dabs of curly cream, hair gel, sometimes seal with oil. Sometimes I want a very soft look, so I'll either use just curly cream or just leave-in conditioner.
Weekly (usually on Sundays but now it's being changed to midweek because that's more convenient for me right now):
-Shampoo (yes, I use sulfates--I prefer sulfate shampoo, actually)
-Deep condition for a minimum of 10 minutes, but preferably 20-30 minutes
-De-tangle with a wide tooth comb (might have to add more conditioner to my hair to get it slippery)
-Rinse out
-If I am going out somewhere, I will do my styling routine, but if I'm just staying at home, I'll only put in some leave-in
