Welcome, bostoncheer! Finding the routine that works best for you can be confusing and often frustrating. We've all been there. Many of us started by using the "Curly Girl" routine. That means using no shampoo - just cowashing. Some of us found that cowashing alone just didn't work for us so we use gentle, sulfate free shampoos. If cowashing works for you, by all means stick with it. My hair is fine and gets weighed down easily and it's also prone to getting over-conditioned. I low-poo (use a sulfate free shampoo) 2-3 times a week.
3B, fine, normal to low porosity
    Modified CG since June 2010
HGs: FSG, anything with glycerin, Tresemme Naturals conditioner, Curls Like Us cloths, satin pillowcases.

    Welcome!! ^^

The curly girl method goes like this:

    First you co-wash,
    Then you condition and detangle,
And then you add leave-in and style~!

And as mhen76 said, some people need a gentle shampoo. I usually just co-wash but once every two weeks I use a gentle shampoo.

Just expiriment :) :) you'll find out what works for you!
