What happened, coconut oil and eggs. Hair breaking!

Dear members. I have very bleached hair. Platinum blond. I have tried the "well of spoken" remedy to put mayonnaise in your hair before schampoing and I loved it. Made my hair shiny and strong. The only thing is that it made my hair a little on the yellow side. I have also tried to put coconut oil in my hair and oh, the shine. Loved that to! So, yesterday evening i was thinking, why not make mayo of eggs and coconut oil(that is not so yellow as olive oil). so i mixed two eggwhites and one egg yolk with some coconut oil and put in my hair. Sleept with a plastic cap and rinsed shampoed and conditioned this morning. Help! Big thick strands of my hair fell off!! It broke where the bleach started on the hair! Do any of you ladies know what could have happened here? To much protein? My hair feels like straw and I am so scared, what if I loose it all the next time I schampoo?! any suggestions? What do I need to do? My hair was not in a bad condition before this happened.

    Yikes! So sorry that this has happened to you. My guess is protein overload since both eggs and coconut oil are heavy in protein. You may want to treat your hair very gently and keep it moisturized with a rich conditioner. Don't use a sulfate shampoo either. Hopefully in time your hair will recover.

    Hey, dont worry. We've all had our DTs gone wrong. I've used egg on my hair a few times but not since CG.I think you used too much Egg white..that's supposed to be drying..or left it in for a bit too long. Egg shouldnt be in the hair for longer than 30-mins to an hour.
    Just condition and moisturise..What is your current routine..Are you using shampoo/conditoner..which ones?

    Maybe you're having protein overload or maybe you're protein sensitive. It's best too have a balance of moisture and protein.

    Definitely protein overload. From here use the most moisturizing products you can find and stick to low manipulation styles. Your hair is very fragile because it is so dry and too much handling can lead to damage. Good luck!!
