My Much Anticipated/Dreaded Haircut
I came home crying today. I arrived for my appointment early, watched several gals exit the salon. All looked great, blonde and silky, short and sassy, gray and soft. When I went into the new salon, it was trendy and clean. Eveyone was friendly, even the other customers. Several people complimented my curls. Why is it your hair, which has looked like crap for the last 3 months, looks good right before you get it cut/colored/ruined. The stylist was very nice, she listened to my concerns, looked at my pictures, answered my questions reasonably, took plenty of time for the consultation prior to doing anything to my hair. I was feeling pretty confident. That's why the horrible outcome hit me so hard. I do not know any one who would be happy walking out of a salon with this mess especially after dropping $120. It was all I could do to force myself to complete my errands before going home to hide. Granted I admittedly have high hopes every time and very possibly unrealistic expectations. But really I know with absolute certainty that this stylist would not leave the house if her hair looked as mine did after an hour and a half in her chair. My poor sweet husband did his best to console me. "It will look better after you do it yourself". Which is obviously true because it can't look any worse. But really is it too much to ask to really "look like you just left the salon"? That fresh, shiny bouncy look and feel. So here's the description: The good - nice darker color; the bad-sulfate shampoo and cones; the ugly - totally flat, stringy, fried looking top layer of hair . I know you are thinking - did you tell her? Yes, very nicely. Her response was - If we cut the top any more (for more height) you will have a total afro (like that is a bad thing first of all)and then she said "let the color settle in for a couple of days and then if you still aren't happy I will cut it again for free." Really? Sorry I just cannot bear to post pics. Thanks for listening.
