What do you use instead of a pomade or serum?

I find that if I use a pomade, serum (or oil) I can't do a successful conditioner wash, even though the pom. or serum is supposed to be water soluble. I've tried several including John Masters and KinkyCurly. Plain water or conditioner with water doesn't penetrate because the hair is "sealed." So using the pomade or serum makes the hair look good but the next day when I co-wash - yuck.
To give a slightly neater, more finished look, calm frizz or add shine, what do you use instead of a pomade, serum or oil? I also tried Donna Marie Moisture Mist which I didn't like either. I might try that again - or else I will have to use a lo-poo whenever I use any pomade or serum.
One product I'm meaning to try for this is LOOB. Anyone have ideas? Thanks for responses.

What do you use for co-washing? I rotate products and yesterday I used V05 Clarifying Conditioner Kiwi Lime Squeeze. It made my hair feel really clean and I use the water soluble cones.

Kas, I'm going to get the LOOB today.
For co-washing right now I'm rotate Curl Junkie Curl Rehab, Mop Top Daily Conditioner and L'oreal Silky Smooth. I actualy prefer the L'oreal - it gives me the most slip but it has the a-cone (amodimethicone) so I'm afraid to use it too often although I don't seem to have buildup.
Greatcurls, I never heard of Shima oil. Where do you get that? Do you find it washes out with a conditioner wash? That's my big problem.
Thanks again ladies. :hello1: I'm having good hair days for the first time in my life, but if I use a serum or pomade on the 2nd day and then try to co-wash it's no good.

Here's the link for Shima hair products:

When I use it, I only use about 3 medium size drops, so it does easily wash out for me.

I have to second the LOOB. I LOVE this stuff on dry hair. Today is muggy and warm, plus I was working up a sweat for 4 hours. My hair looks almost exactly the same as it did when I left the house this morning. This.never.happens. Or not in the summer, anyway. This time I used a bigger blob than normal (between a nickel and a quarter), spread it on my hands, and then lightly smoothed it over my canopy. You have to move quickly though before it gets too tacky and sticky.
I was told by my local CVS that LOOB is no longer being made! Hmmmm.
Meanwhile, I am getting good results using ProudCurlyGirls method (tiny amount of leave-in - KCKT) after hair is dry.
