Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

wavyblondewavyblonde Posts: 1,637Registered Users Curl Neophyte
ROCKS MY WORLD! I bought it after watching Kandee Johnson's tutorials on youtube, and I can't say enough about it. I have so much more control over my shadow now--it stays put all day, and I can even do those shading/camouflaging tricks to make my eyes look bigger now, because I have a good canvas to start with. I'm finding that the eyeshadow colors stay truer to their shades, too.

I did a photoshoot with my band in the sun for a few hours on Saturday, and my eyemakeup didn't budge. YAY!

The other good thing about it, is it's a nice base shade by itself, so you could get away with just that and some mascara if you wanted. Or use it as your highlighter color and just put a darker shade in the crease.

Anyway! Thought I would share the tip! I bought mine at Ulta last week, and when I got up to the counter, the girl told me that I got a free smaller sample size of it as a gift. I bought the $30 huge tube of it, so I don't know how much you have to spend on UD stuff to get the gift.
2c/3a with 2b underlayer. Fine, porous. Loves protein. But not hydrolized wheat protein. Yuck.

I actually had that stuff in my hand yesterday at Ulta! I wasn't sure if it would work for me because I have oily skin and my shadow always creases. I thought it might add to the creasey-cake-factor I get after a few hours.

I have crazy oily eyelids. I find the Urban Decay PP (and the glitter one too) works somewhat well for me. It delays my oily, creasing goopiness. It doesn't completely stop it, but it does make it less oily/goopy and it takes longer to get to that point too.
It makes otherwise cheap eyeshadows seem high end. Its well worth the money. Spend it on the Primer Potion and save money on the actual eyeshadow.

I have super oily lids too and UDPP works well for me.

TooFaced Shadow Insurance works even better. For blending, Mac paint pots are good too. But they can crease on me.

I have really oily lids too. I wish that would migrate to other parts of my face where I actually *need* more moisture.

Does UDPP irritate anyone's eyes? I'm intrigued that it might be OK on it's own as a light-ish nude eyeshadow. I am sooo lazy with eye makeup other than mascara and liner.

It doesn't irritate my eyes. There's also a champagne colored UDPP too.

And a matte one that's kind of like Benefit's Lemon-Aid and UDPP in one...

And their set of mini UDPPs has a pearly one called Greed. It's supposed to be released as a full-size, but it isn't out yet.

i use Benefit Lemon-Aid and i got a sample of their new primer called Stay-Don't-Stray, which i don't think is as good as Lemon-Aid.

for years, i've been using MAC paint in Bare Canvas, too, and my eye shadow doesn't seem to budge on even the most humid of summer days.

i absolutely love eye makeup! I have oily skin and I have noticed that mac paint pot works as an amazing shadow primer. I could apply my eye shadow in the morning, not touch it all day, party at night, and come back to see my eye shadow in great condition.
I have noticed that urban decay primers work best for urban decay eye shadow. My only problem with the UD primer is that, for me, it does not hold my eye shadow the closer I get to my brows.
anyways...talking about urban decay...their Naked Palette is simply AMAZING!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have really oily lids and I love the UDPP and the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I heard that there is supposed to be a UDPP coming out in a tube similar to the shadow insurance. I will really like this because I hate when its almost gone and you can't get it out of the container its in now.

If you can pry out the O ring in the UDPP bottle (using manicure scissors), it allows you to get out a ton more primer. It almost doubles the amount of primer you can get from the bottle.

I've been looking for this palette FOREVER! The last time I was in Sephora I asked one of the sales associates when they were going to have them in stock without them selling out so fast and she told me January 2011 :angry2:

That is insane!!! I live in NYC and I called so so many makeup stores, only to hear that they were sold out. I ordered it on ebay and had to pay a little extra because of shipping, but it was SO WORTH IT! the colors are amazing. They blend well and as all UD eye shadows, they are so pigmented. Good luck finding it. If they have an Ulta near you, maybe they will have it?

I'm in the ATL area and I've called all the Sephora's and Ultas and they're all sold out :crybaby:. This palette is definitely a hot item (lol). I'm trying to be patient but I just may have to look on ebay.

I finally bought this in the original formula, in tube, during Sephora's recent VIB sale. Tried it for the first time today. I just applied it with my finger, had no idea what to do or the best way to do it. But I made sure that I got it down to my lash line so that the liner on my upper lids had a chance of staying on all day. Yes, it did! :thumbleft: Usually, it's pretty much gone and I'm left with a little bit on the inner and outer corners of my lash line.

Do you think I could apply a bit of the UDPP to my lower lash line, to help keep the liner on my lower lash line more in place?

I've been doing it for the past couple of days, on my lower lash line. So happy to finally see my eyeliner staying put, looking almost fresh all day long.

I think I may not be using enough or applying it thick enough. May be a dumb question but how do you know if/when you have applied too much/too heavily?

primers should dry quickly, so you know you've got too much when you're waiting more than a couple of minutes for it.
