Glasses (semi-hair related ;) ) Update :)

So I'm hoping to be able to buy a pair of glasses one day in the near future and I found a site where you can get a complete pair for about 55 dollars. The only problem is that they're selection of frames is really slim pickins'! They send you the frames to try for free and you just send them back a couple of days later. I've tried about 12 different pairs, and I realize with their selection I'm never going to find anything perfect, but I need a back-up pair because I'm wearing out my eyes and contacts by keeping them in my eyes for about 15 hours a day or so.
I've narrowed it down to about 2 that I can imagine myself wearing. One I really like but is a bit 'crazy' (as my SO says
), but I love the color. I just don't want to look ridiculous (I'd rather have an olive green). The other is 'safer' but a bit boring, yet might look better on me. I wouldn't be wearing them in public that much anyway because I prefer my contacts.
Anyway, I've linked a couple of pics so you can tell me which looks better, if either one. :P Keep in mind I was going on 5th day hair here and it was after the gym, so lots of frizz. (see IWCH, there's LOTS of halo frizz!)
Oh, and btw, the green ones are not measured to fit my face, but if I end up ordering them, they would be measured to fit better. It will be a while before I order anyway, but I'm trying to decide already.

Good luck with making the decision! I hope the other ladies are of more help!

Again, don't be afraid to say 'neither'. Maybe I should have made this a poll. :?
I wanted funky glasses when I got them but my S.O. picked the ones I got. I really only need reading glasses so next time I'm going as funky as they get.
If you mostly wear them at home go with what makes you feel good

I think the idea of the first pair is better but that they're a little too large for you. I think a bold frame suits your face.
hope this helps.

Since you're probably going to have your frames for a few years, I'm gonna be honest. Of the two, I think that the green ones are worse. They're very angular and broad and a little too big, so they change the proportions of your face in a bad way (at least, that's what I think). They also make your eyes seem too close together. (They aren't *really* too close together, but the nosepiece of those glasses is too big.) At the same time, I don't think think the second pair is bold enough, which paradoxically makes them stand out too much for me. I guess they look out of place somehow. Anyway, the pictures are kind of small, so maybe I'm not getting the right impression.
You have *beautiful* eyes (romantic, eh?). You definitely want your glasses to draw attention to them without overpowering them. That doesn't have to rule out strong shapes and colors, though.
I always hate having to find new frames. It's soooo hard to find a good pair. Good luck!
Ok, off to bed with me!
btw, here's what the glasses are supposed to look like. I realize I don't have her great bone structure though. 8)
For 55 dollars you can't go wrong with either of them. I just happen to like narrow frames to draw the eyes in.
Man my father used to get just what his ins paid for and they were always thick black frames. YOu know though I grew up actually liking them. It's a sad sick thing. Thick plastic black frames, I love them! Just not on me, funky narrow black frames or hot pink now that I would wear.
I have some a bit like the second pair so my opinion might be a little swayed by that

Just what I was going to post when I saw that pic.
(And maybe a headband pic when you get around to it...)

Going natural for the summer...just a dab of ArcAngell!
Thanks to everyone who responded about the glasses, I think I will wait until a few months from now when I can afford to splurge on a better pair that I really like.
eta: I've been ordering contacts online for years and have never ordered the wrong Rx.
That sounds like the sort of thing I'd do.

I too, am a "usual contact lens wearer" and I am on the search to find a new pair of glasses... Which is hard because I am so picky and I think most frames look horrid on me! Anyway, I feel your frustrations! and Sorry about the Rx mix up! I wouldn't be surprised if that happened to me sometime soon too!!! Its funny because I am on my last pair also!!! So that reminds me--I better go get more.

I also like the frameless ones, because they are simple and go with everything, from a suit to sweats.

I ended up with cataracts at the almost unheard of age of 35 and now have man-made implants, but I have 20/20 vision. I do need bifocals to read some stuff and glasses for distance (it's a weird thing having 20/20 but needing glasses!). I have wire rims and I think you look much better with the wire ones
Now, if I were your age, I'd probably have picked the first ones, only in ... oh, I don't know ... purple

Oh jeesh I just saw this! There's no return or exchange policy there? I mean, it was a mistake that anyone can easily make, they should be able to work something out with you, I hope.
Good luck! My husband buys a new pair every 4-5 years, and it is tough to find something you love, will flatter and function well AND won't break the budget.
I'm trying mostly not to think about it right now and chalk it up to one of those 'live and learn' things.
CL, you are lucky to have 20/20 now! I've been told by a few eye doctors that I'm legally blind, but apparently that's rather common. I wouldn't think of driving or going out in public without my contacts on. In high school, I had some friends who actually played games with me by making me go out without my contacts and try to guess who was walking towards us.
DH, I actually tried to call the company today, but they were closed for lunch and then I was gone the rest of the day. I will go ahead and try to call again tomorrow but I seriously doubt they would do anything because it was my mistake and on their website it says they only take back unopened boxes. But it's worth a shot.
In the meantime, if anyone knows anyone with a prescription of -5.75 , let me know and I can fix them up with some contacts.
I like them both but the green ones give you something more -- they look more hip and bring out your eyes. I like rimless, but these are sort of granny-ish.

Well hopefully they'll take back the boxes you did not touch...how many did you order and open?
I really like the green ones by the way. They stand out and green looks good one you. I like the purple head bands with the green glasses.
Is there a possible loophole that you can get the right ones. I don't order my contacts through the mail but once I got a few contacts all dried up and they refunded it for me so there may be some hope.
As for the glasses, I am still trying to decide....
Thankfully, when I got the cataracts, my wonderful doc said my eyeballs were so elongated that he'd have to put me out totally for the surgery instead of the typical twilight sleep. No problem
Hope you get your new contacts soon!
