Coffee or cocoa in FSG?

nikskenikske Posts: 556Registered Users
Going to make another batch of FSG tonight, but I was wondering if anyone ever added coffee or cocoa to it?

Coffee gives my hair a lot of shine, and cocoa stains it fairly well, so I thought I'd try and cook the linseeds in coffee and add a little cocoa after I strain.

Anyone have any experience with this?

No but it sounds interesting! If you try it can you say how it turned out. :colors:

Seems quite liquidy, not as goopy as usual. But that could be the linseeds.

What I did was, I got the linseed out of the freezer, thawed them in lukewarm water and then boiled them for 10 minutes, since I wanted the fsg to be a little thicker. (I decided not to boil them in coffee, I find the smell of burnt/stale coffee appalling.)

I then added a cup of very strong coffee and whisked for about 2 minutes. The coffee smell is not as strong as I thought it'd be, to be honest. Quite a relief.

It's cooling now, so I haven't used it yet. As soon as I have, I'll post my results.

It was ok, not what I'd hoped for though. It did add a little shine, but not as much as a rinse would. And the smell of coffee lingered... I love coffee, but this was just a little too much.

Next time I'll just stick with regular FSG
