Wow - it looks so shiny and the curls are gorgeous. What products are you using to shampoo, condish, etc? I'll be interested in hearing an update and how long it lasts.

I'm confused about the part where you said Felice coated your hair with the lotion-like solution, then lightly dusted it.

How does your scalp feel? The shine looks great.

Very nice results! And I"m glad to see the curls are still there.

I gotta say though... $250-$450 every 12 weeks?! Who can afford that?!!! (and would they care to sponsor me :P )

I guess I should edit it. She lightly coated the hair. My scalp felt fine. No burning or discomfort. Felt very gentle. No chemical smell at all, which surprised me.

do they do these at most? I'm scared to get it done because, I to don't want to lose my curls now that I love them. The shine looks so good though!!!

I can only speak to what I had done, which was the Brazilian Blowout. And I definitely have my curls, which I'm happy about.

I'm amazed at how great your second day hair looks. So shiny and frizz free and really flattering. (And I like you better with curls than straightened, to be honest.)

I'm gonna wait to see if my area gets any qualified people. I'd love to not have to battle every morning with the summer frizz. But, I may only do this for summer. That's pretty pricey to do every 3 months. Yoiks.

Although my lingering concern is that the flat-ironing process is actually doing internal damage that will only show once the keratin wears off, and so one would have to KEEP doing it or go through another cycle of "repairing the damage." I know, it's only once, but I do wonder just how hot and how much internal damage to seal that keratin.

I love that it didn't smell toxic or burn though. The other straightening Brazilian and Japanese treatments sound horrid. :D

I also wonder about the damage being done by the 450 degree hot iron. I haven't seen reviews by people after their treatment has grown out. It would be nice to know if it feels more damaged than before the treatment. Is the Keratin really enough to protect the hair during this treatment?

    Michelle,
Are you using the line of BB products they want you to use? Do you use gel for your curls?

I'm having the Brazilian Blowout done in a week and half. I'm really looking forward to not having FRIZZ! I've bought every product on the market in the hopes of combatting frizz and none of them have worked the way I had hoped. I used to be a slave to my blow dryer and flat iron but have come to love my curls over the last 5 years. The only thing that I don't love is the frizz, my hair dries out and looks like a bell (no matter which hair cut I have!) as the day goes on and it ends up in my all too popular ponytail. I'm 39 and people still think I'm in high school when I have my hair in a ponytail. I guess that's not a bad thing really...but I'd like to wear my hair down every once in awhile, but it's just not an option for me now.

My stylist had the Brazilian Blowout done on her hair and it looks incredible! The shine is amazing and her hair actually moves...that's something I only experience when she blows my hair out straight after my appointment (its the only time it's blown out- I wear it curly every day and let it air dry).

What I'm hoping for is loose, shiny curls without frizz. I'm hoping this is the service for me! My sister in law had a Keratin Treatment done last year- I think it was Coppola. She had the dreaded 72 hr wait period, I know I can't deal with that. She usually wears her hair straight, she hasn't embraced her curly girl yet! I'm still working on that with her. I did meet her for dinner one night and it was pouring rain...a day when she would have been moaning and groaning about frizz. She walked from her car to the restaurant without an umbrella and her hair was not frizzy...it looked like she'd just come from the salon...meanwhile, I looked like I'd just stuck my finger in the light socket. The one thing that I can say about the treatment she had is that, although it was much softer (she has very coarse hair), it wasn't shiny. Not as shiny as I would think it should have been. I'm hoping that the Brazilian Blowout gives me the shine that I'm looking for.

I'm very excited and I'm anxiously waiting for my appointment!

    Have a great week!

Call me for an appointment in Los Angeles for the best keratin treatment around. I have an amazing product, it took me a while to find the best one and I am happy to say I have! The most manageable hair, silky, shiny, no frizz and it takes literally 5 mins to blowdry and looks amazing with no product! Maintenance free hair for the next 3-4 months!
I will come to you, or vice versa :)

My BKT hadn't "grown out" but due to the use of products containing salt, and yes, I went into the ocean and got my hair a little wet, my hair, when curly, was really really frizzy...i guess it was "wearing off," however, when straight it looked great, but definately more poofy than before my salt binge...so anyhoo... I couldn't stand the sight of it! my curls are still pretty loose, but the frizz was killing me! So...i did something crazy...ready? I was going to order the coppola system on folica, but my local beauty supply store was selling a 8 ounce bottle. I checked with the company and it was legit...so i spent $200 bucks, i paid cash, so no tax, but I'm pretty sure you can get it cheaper on folica.com...anyhoo...i applied the product as directed, but mostly in the frizzier section...and left the sections others alone. I didn't do 10 passes, because i wasn't looking to straighten my hair, and washed after 48 hours...and totally used a clip and pony tail holder occassionaly during those 48 hours..the result? My curls are now frizz free! Now...I'm not telling anyone to do this themselves, but if you can flat iron your own hair, you can do this yourself...the fumes bugged me a little, but since I only used like.75 ounce AND made sure to keep the fan going, I didn't have major issues. I did this because, we're having a major heat wave in the northeast, and straight hair is not the thing for me right now. I needed my manageable curls back, and here they are. I know I sound kind of crazy, but I'm glad I did it. From now on I'm doing all of my Coppola treatments at home. I have 7 ounces left, and this should last me at least a year and save me HUNDREDS!

I looked on folica.com, and I saw the Keratin Complex Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment for $160 (8 oz.). Is that what you used?

I also saw Liquid Keratin on amazon.com. This sells for $49 and is a 30-day treatment.

Do you think it is a similar product?

Anyway, I hope you like your hair and that it works out. How does it look today? I recently spent $300 on the Coppola Keratin treatment (in April), and it already seems to be almost gone. I wish it wasn't so expensive because I really liked it. It made my hair silky soft and easy to style.

No, I don't think liquid keratin is the same product. i mean, it's got to be so cheap for a reason! I'd sooner stick to the real deal. Once I've used up my Coppola treatment, I plan to purchase Marcia Tiexteira from a distrubtor I know on another hair forum. From now on, I'm doing these treatments myself!

BTW...my hair looks great. I know I could have gotten straighter results had I done at least 10 passes and waited the 72 hours, but I'm happy. From now on I'm going to only co wash and use as little product as possible. This should stretch out the treatment. Hopefully, I won't need to do it again until the end of September because it is time consuming.

That's great. I'm glad you like it. I've heard that the Marcia brand is also good, too.

What brand products (conditioner) are you using now to maintain it? I tend to wash my hair way too often - pretty much everyday - and I think that's why my Coppola wore off in 3 months.

Keep us posted as to how long it lasts. :)

and spent the money for the BB brand shampoo and conditioner. When it's finished, I'll probably buy a mild shampoo and conditioner from whole foods or aubrey organics. At one point I purchased the giovanni tea tree shampoo, but it totally sripped my bkt...I'm trying to stay clear of any form of sodium in my products but it's hard. Different forms of sodium,. even the coconut derived ones, can be harmful to the treatment. However, the BB product contains some kind of Disodium...so hard! for My own reasons, I steer clear of anything containing citric acid. Although I can't find anything online, I'm on the fence about whether or not citric acid can strip a bkt, so I stay away.

does her treatment have formaldehyde? I just don't want to risk a toxicity reaction and then lose my hair.

Even if it said formeldahyde free..i wouldn't believe it. no way does just Keratin straighten your hair...all of these treatments have hydes in them, although BB seems to not use anything with hydes...but then again you can't purchase BB to do at home so I'll never know!

I had my brazilian blowout last friday. Love my hair straight but havent gone back to curly yet. Will do that tomorrow. I did not buy the BB shampoo but am wondering what you all are using that doesnt have sulfates and sodiums in it? I can find no sulfates but the sodium seems to be an issue. The salon where I had the BB done only said anything about no sulfates didnt mention sodiums.
Any info would be great. I'll post before and after pics later
    Thanx

even though I have a BKT, and the BB products do contain sodiums, just not sodium chloride.

For a while i was thinking the BB products were stripping my BKT, then I just realized that my BKT brand (coppolla) is crappolla.

Anyway, to answer your question is a bit difficult because other than the BB products, all other products are for people who've had a BKT and they are significantly cheaper than the BB products, and not sure if they are BB safe( but probably will be). Many of the the BKT shampoos are not sulfate free....perhaps you can try SOFTLISS bkt products as an alternative. Softliss is made by the same company as the BB /home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.softliss.com%2Fcarrito%2F" class="Popup. Their shampoo and conditioner duo is $29. Not sure if it's sulfate free though...since the BB is a softer treatment, you may want to only stick to Sulfate free shampoos...if that's the case you may want to bite the bullet and buy the BB products on ebay or amazon.

My beauty supply store sells a generic sodium chloride and sulfate free shampoo ( $9). Haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure if you search amazon you can find something similar there.

Washed my hair with sulfate free shampoo and used the BB mask kept on for 5 min or so. my hair is dry dry dry and very coarse feeling on the ends. Wondering if the poo I used stripped the BB from my hair. Not happy with my curl formation used to have small spiral curls. Well no longer. Very loose curls if any and more wavy.
I'm thinking BB was a definite waste of money:( But of course where I live cant find sodium and sulfate free shampoo's or conditioners. I hate living in the boonies. Ok sorry I digress and will stop complaining. I feel like I'm starting over again with my hair. It wasnt that bad with the no cones modified CG routine...someday I'll learn and leave well enough alone!!!
I dont know how to upload pics so you can see. If anyone can help with that I'll be glad to share before and after pics.

had sodium chloride in it ( sea salt), then yes it could have stripped your bb. What brand shampoo was it? You can order sodium chloride and sulfate free shampoos online. Sodium Chloride is more harmful to to the BB and BKT than sulfates. In fact, a lot of BKT shampoos have sulfates in them. Sea salt is the real killer of BBs and BKTs.

I used loreal everpure. since the stylist didnt say anything about sodium and just said sulfate free thought it would be okay. If it stripped the BB out then you would think my curls would be back to normal and that didnt happen. Going to get the shampoo for BB today.
