is anyone else sad that the olympics are ending today?

i'll bet the athletes are EXHAUSTED! but it was so nice to have something interesting to watch on t.v. i have not missed a day of coverage since the games started, and i felt like i finally found something that i LIKED watching on t.v. that was on often.

i guess it's always kind of bittersweet in way when a huge event comes to a close.

I've not seen much, different time zone and somewhat patchy coverage, but of the sports I like to watch it's been great. The end of the Olympics always makes me sad, whether it's summer or winter.

yes - it has consumed my life the past couple of weeks.

but i am SO happy for the athletes of my country - they have done us proud!

14 gold medals is the most won by any host nation at a winter games.

Me too, and me too. I was in tears watching Canada win the gold medals. So gracious and humble.

    I have loved these olympics.

lol I can't watch snow sports. I don't get why somebody would want to be cold and outside.

I don't have tv but I've seen many of the events online or when visiting friends and it's been very enjoyable.

Me! I wasn't excited about them at first, but once they got here, I was all about them! It was so nice having something to watch every night.

Yes, I'll miss them, as will the entire city of Vancouver! We'll all be waking up with a massive hangover post-Olympics hangover tomorrow.

I've been off work for the Olympics (the Uni I teach at was a transportation/logistics hub), so I got to experience these games in its fullest. From taking the kids to watch the torch pass by our street all the way to freezing our butts off in the pouring rain at Cypress Mountain to see Jasey-Jay Anderson win gold in Snowboarding yesterday, it feels like the Games have gone on forever.

I have enjoyed watching quite a bit of it. However, the time zone thing really put a damper on the games for my kids this time. Most of the good stuff didn't even start til 9pm eastern time, and my kids are in bed by then (on school nights anyway). I don't know what they could have done to make it better, but it really sucked being 3 hours ahead.

I seem to recall the late-night-thing almost always being a problem for kids with the winter games. There's usually no school when the summer games take place, so they can stay up later.

With DVR, I got to watch all of it or everything I wanted to see except the one person I wanted to see, which was Plushenko the night Evan Lyscechek (sp) won the gold and the surly Russian won silver. I have to remember to set it to record sporting events 15 or 30 mins beyond the end of the scheduled event.

Of course, I had to avoid headlines if I didn't want to know who won but that wasn't hard to do.

I am so impressed with Vancouver and Canadians!
