Do You Think This Is Tacky?

SpringcurlSpringcurl Posts: 8,002Registered Users
One of my Facebook friends put this as her status today:
For the mother who left her small children totally unattended to trash the most personal areas of our home (including our closets), our antiques, and my office during Mary's shower yesterday, I sure would love to have a word with you. This is our home, not a fast food restaurant play center. Seriously - call me - I'm pretty wound right now.
I think it's tacky. There's no real reason to call someone out like this, IMO. You know who was at your party and you probably know who it was. What's the point of calling them out like that?

I think it's very tacky. Be an adult. If you want to "have a word" with them, call them. But clearly this person doesn't, he just wants to point out their misdeeds to EVERYbody on his friend list.

Oh, yeah, that's tacky and bullying behavior IMO. All the FB friends who were at the shower will know exactly who she's calling out.

Wow... That is tacky and just embarrassing FOR HER!!! Some people truly to think before they speak (or before posting on FB). I understand being upset. But pause, think, maybe write it out on paper, wait a few hours, and re read what you wrote. By then you should have SOME perspective.

So not the way to go about it!

And if I was Mary, I'd feel really bad and torn between friends!

I love the "Seriously- Call me" part.

As if this person is a child who needs to come to them so they can be reprimanded.

no offense, but tacky seems to be a running theme with this situation. i think its just as tacky to let your kids run amuck and either not clean up after them or at least make an offer to do so.

I agree with subbrock. It was tacky to let her kids run around, and it was tacky to post it as a facebook status. Both parties are at fault.

I wasn't there, but given her overreaction, I find it hard to believe that any so-called damage was as bad as she makes it out to be.

I like the "I'm pretty wound right now", as if she's some kind of bad azz thug. If she's really "wound", why not just call little Mama up and give her a piece of her mind?

On the other hand, none of my FB friends are this dramatic. Your friend posted a more interesting status update than my friends, who usually post stuff like "Had Kix for breakfast!!! YUM!"

after that totally unnecessary post, who the heck is going to fess up? I sure wouldn't if I was the person.
why not call up any and all of the people that were there w/ kids and ask if it was them?
Me personally I probably wouldn't say anything. just wrote it off as one of those unfortunate things?!?!

Yeah, I feel the same way. From the looks of the pictures she's posted, there were about 40 people there. You can keep an eye on your kid, definitely, but it's easy for them to slip away even for a few minutes and create some serious havoc.

Everyone's different, I know, but I would have called the person I suspected individually.

Very tacky and that word is putting it nicely if you ask me.

I can understand being mad because someone wasn't watching their kids and they got into your stuff but at the same time if it's THAT big a deal then don't host the party where kids are invited. If you're mad then deal with it like an adult and have the balls to talk to the mother face to face. To call someone out on facebook is rude and immature, esp if this mother isn't able to directly comment back.

Hopefully all her "friends" are thinking what we are all thinking too. Then, in the end it makes the woman look like a full grown idiot.

Could she be any more passive aggressive? Just call the person on the phone. Probably every who was there is on her facebook and they all know who she is talking about but she is too chickensh*t to keep it between them.

Lame. I hate when people use their status messages to call people out. It's childish.

If someone posted that about me, I'd probably respond right there with, "You talkin' to me?"

I don't see how that sounded remotely thuggish :lol

but anyway I really don't think the FB status is that big of a deal. She was mad so she posted that.

This. If she knows who it is...well either call them on it or don't play with them anymore :)

If she doesn't know, she could send a mass email to all of the people invited saying she's genuinely upset and would like to know who's children did it. I'm embarassed for her this is so passive aggressive!
