In need of an effective protein treatment

Recently I've decided to go blonde again by slowly adding highlights into my hair which is a mix of dirty blonde roots and reddish copper at my ends. My hair was very healthy and already quite porous prior to the highlights. Now I'm afraid its getting a lot worse even though I've had them professionally done its still been pretty hard on my hair. My hair likes protein alot and is medium texture.

Does anyone have any protein treatments to reccommend that are really effective to reconstruct hair and easy to make? I'm open to any and all suggestions :thumbleft:

I'm not a DIY girl, but I recently tried Aubrey Organics GPB Conditioner and love it for my hair. Whatever type of protein in it is working great for my curls. After just a week of using it, I bought another bottle. The scent of the original GPB was too strong for me, but Whole Foods sells 2 nice scents that are exclusive to WF.

The best protein treatment is right out the frig. Mix 1 egg, about a cup of mayo (or more depending on hair density and length), and 1 teaspoon of honey (for softness and shine). I put on a plastic cap and sit under the dryer for about 30 minutes.

You can add more products to this mixture if you like: lemon juice, your favorite conditioner etc. I like to play around with it. My hair comes out very soft and strong! Good luck I know it's different but it works.

I like to use a mixture of plain yoghurt, a bit of baking soda (not too much!) and my regular deep conditioner. Leave it on for an hour underneath a showercap. This works beautifully for me.

I'm a DIY girl to, but find the purchased protein treatments MUCH better. I don't like smelling like "food" all day (that happened especially with the Braggs Amino Acid and yogurt one.)

Great products currently available are CJ Curl Fix, Spiral Solutions Repairing Protein Treatment and Elucence Moisture Repair. They aren't as "hard" on your hair as the Nexus treatments.

THanks for the replies everyone! I'm going to try a mixture of doing homemade pts and ones that are storebought.

I think I will try the egg with the mayo and some evoo. That sounds good. :)
