What are you plopping with?

mom2e3mom2e3 Posts: 73Registered Users
What do you use to plop? Fancy, made for plopping equipment, t-shirts, micro-fiber towels (where do you find super long ones)? I'm trying to figure out if I really need to invest $20 into a plopping towel like that Curl-ease one.
Mostly sure I'm a 2b/Mii

A turbie twist, backwards. got it at sally's, fits my best friends knee length hair.
Hair type: 2a/b, medium to fine texture, medium to high porosity (I think!)
Routine: Occasionally wash with Lavender baby shampoo. CO wash with Garnier triple nutrition conditioner, use a nickel sized blob as a leave in, scrunch out a little water, scrunch in some aloe gel (FOTE), then scrunch in some Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee (BRHG). Plop with a backwards turbie twist for 10 min - to overnight.

+1. I double up with them though for extra absorption. And they're cheap! Can't beat 5 bucks for a pack!

When I worked in a cafe, we had American Apparel as our work shirts, and if you know American Aparrel, their cotton is extreeeeemely soft! So I have been using my old work shirts since they are so soft and stretchy. They are short sleeved, the only downside, but I've been making them work. Plopping is definitely helping, though, I'm glad I learned about it through this board!

Are the flour sack towels regular towel length? I'm not sure I've seen these at stores. But then again, it's not like I've ever been looking for them. I did see them for sale through Dharma Trading, but I think they're sold in pack of 10 or 12. Several sizes, too. I'm so bad at guesstimating measurements! (they also have cheap silk pillowcases in case your'e looking).

I was totally confused by this at first. I finally saw a thread where they said they were in the kitchen section of Target, Walmart, Dollar store, etc. They are dish towels.

No lol that's too big. Mine are 30x38 inches which is much bigger than a regular dish towel but they are kitchen towels.

So, I'm guessing you plop in the same way was with a regular towel? (which I'm unskilled in, anyway.) :bag:

I use a t-shirt pillow case lol. I used to have a jersey nit bed set and I found a lingering pillow case from it. I don't have thick hair so I just use it to dry and scrunch with. If someone did have long and thick hair you could just cut down the seems and have a big one.

Anyways, that's what I use! Cheap, simple, and didn't know I had it!

Yes, the only reason why I bought these large kitchen flour sack towels was because the t-shirt was not long enough especially because I'm growing my hair out :P

Have you seen the Jessicurl video? They call it plunking on there, just scroll down the video links. Hope that helps, it really helped me out when I started CG

In my previous post I said I was using a flour sack towel, but last week while at Big Lots I came across a turban style micro fiber towel for $2.00. Just like this one. /home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fdp%2FB0021LL1PO%2Fref%3Dasc_df_B0021LL1PO1020007%3Fsmid%3DAKZ54EXMVZHXW%26amp%3Btag%3Ddealtmp3676-20%26amp%3BlinkCode%3Dasn%26amp%3Bcreative%3D380341%26amp%3BcreativeASIN%3DB0021LL1PO" class="Popup

I tried it today, and either I got the right amount of product in my hair today or the turban towel made a difference, because I haven't had my hair look this good for a long time. :happy7:
