Ways to combat porosity?

I have very porous hair (I think...based on what I've read). Can it be fixed? Did anyone here used to have porous hair and now it's normal (or at least closer to it)? If so, what do you do?

hey, i'm not an expert at fixing porous hair, but i think a protein treatment might do the job. it repairs and strengthens the hair. you should alternate your use of a protein treatment with a moisture treatment so that your hair does not turn "hard". it will create a good balance between moisture and protein in your hair. hope that helped :)

Protein is a potential fix (I do one PT a week, and it works well for my medium-high porous hair). If you're really porous, you may want to try oil sealing. This essentially uses an oil after conditioning to lock moisture into the hair shaft in porous curlies. Here's a thread talking about it:

    Location: West Virginia (Eastern Panhandle)
    2b/cMii, medium-high porosity

Likes protein and most oils, HATES mineral oil
    Summer Routine
    Poo: Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture
    Cowash CJ Daily Fix
Rinse out: Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture
Leave In: Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture, SSRPT
Stylers: Ecostyler Krystal, LALSG (in really high dews)
    PT: SS Repairing Protein Treatment
