Essential Wholesale Co-Op

Okay ladies -- Co-op time.

The place we will be ordering from is:
/home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.essentialwholesale.com%2F" class="Popup

I prefer to be contacted by email (go to my profile, and you'll see the option to "send an email to goobernut), or please post your questions to this thread. I'm trying to avoid having my PM box overflow. I might not get on for a few days in a row (I'm in college and all that), so please be patient with me.

The term "co-op" is short for co-operative. Basically, for our purposes, we are going to combine orders for products from Essential Wholesale. There is no minimum order. However, the minimum size of some of the products is a gallon! Using up a gallon of the Simple Aloe jelly might be hard for even someone with BSL thick hair.

This is how I'd like to do it. Starting today, you guys can peruse through the essential wholesale site and decide on what you like. Order samples from essential wholesale. They are affordable! Kathymack also has samples available of the Simple Aloe Jelly as well as a product that has very similar ingredients -- Duchess of Curls. I love the DoC, so I can't wait to try a sample of the Simple Aloe Jelly! I believe Kathymack has also ordered some of the lotions before -- so maybe ask her about them if you're interested.

When you're looking at the products, you'll have to decide *how much you want* of a product. If you want enough to get a whole gallon, then please, order it yourself and have it shipped straight to your home. There are no minimum orders, so that shouldn't be a problem. If you order it through the co-op, you'll have to pay double shipping -- shipping to me and then to you.

This is the preliminary plan of how it will work. You will review the products and decide what you want and how much. We also need to come to a consensus of HOW we want the products re-packaged. Do you want to go cheap and have me repackage in ziplock baggies and gladware containers, or do you want to also make an order of 8 oz plastic bottles? Personally, I'd say go with the gladware, because we're going to be getting several different types of items, and its pretty versatile, it seals tight and I can repackage it in a ziplock baggie -- should be no loss of product. Remember, all of these things will have to be part of the price you pay for the co-op. You will also have to pay for the shipping to me, and then the shipping to you.

For example -- using the Simple Aloe Jelly again -- a gallon is 30.70. Split that 16 ways (128 oz in a gallon), and that's 1.87 a bottle. Shipping is approx $17 for that gallon, so in reality the price becomes 2.94. Then I'll add shipping to YOUR house depending on the number of products you order. You still will save over the brand name product by around 2/3rds. If you were to order DoC alone it sells for 15 + 7 shipping.

Please note -- you may not get every single thing you want. For example, if there aren't 16 people who want the Simple Aloe Jelly, then 4 of you will have to take 32 oz, or 2 of you will have to take 1/2 gallons. When you post what you want, please post your preference, and the max that you will take. If there aren't enough people that want the same thing you do, you might have to take more, or you might wanna look at ordering the smallest size they have and having it shipped to your house directly.

Instructions: You have until the week of Feb 8th to put down on this thread what you want. All orders will be due that week. I will close orders on Feb 13th. The next week I will organize the orders and report back to you how much is due (by the 20th). I hate asking for the money first, but in this case, depending on how many people order, I may not have the money to front for the entire order lol, so I will have to have all monies due before I make the order. Please, make every attempt to have your order to me (in email or on this thread, and I prefer this thread because I can view everything at one time) by the 13th. I will not be online EVERY day, so please be patient with me. I will be organizing this, getting the products, repackaging them, then sending them back out to you, at NO compensation to myself. Except that I get a generic version of DoC cheap -- just like you guys are hehe.

If when you look at the essentials site you are overwhelmed and don't know what to start with, the next post is going to have some "comparisons". I will have links to the name brand products, and then links to essentials generic items. If you have found some yourself, then please feel free to post so others know what to look for.

Please feel free to post questions etc... I may edit my posts for FAQ's.

If you can't decide what to order from Essentials -- here are similar products.

Duchess of Curls -- Simple Aloe Jelly
Knight in Shining Armor Hair Mask -- Hair Masque

    Hoity Toity Hair Mask
    -- Hair Masque
Hoity Toity Leave in Spray -- Leave in Detangling Spray

There are a TON of similarities between Hoity Toity and Amourai. Please look through both sites and see if you have a favorite product you'd like to try in the bulk form. The Conditioners and Shampoos spring to mind first.

Brendita's No Knots Moisturizing Mist -- Leave In Detangling Spray
Brendita's Phat Head Nourising Condish -- Moisturizing Condish

I am in NO way stating that these products are identical and that you will get the same performance out of them. I am only pointing out that ingredient lists are VERY similar and that this might be an economical way to get something similar to your favorite product for a much lower price.

These are some products that I think look really good!
Simple Facial Gel -- think it would be a great shampoo
Calendula Creme -- I have very sensitive skin and I've been wanting to try a calendula lotion.
Mango Butter -- 8.65 a pound! Naturally Refined Shea -- not quite the yellow creamy, but not the white waxy stuff either.

Please be sure and take a look at all the areas -- cleansers, jellies, lotions, cremes. Someone PM'd me yesterday and mentioned that under the serums there is a product that compares to one she just bought for $25 for an oz! The one on this site is $22 for 16 oz.

    Have fun shopping ladies!!

Some more product comparisons for those of you who like to order their "hand made" facial products from Etsy -- I just wanna pass on a great savings to those of you who might enjoy these products.

Luscious Lather large ultimate firming facial serum -- Ultimate Facial Serum
Ibrodar's Unfold Wrinkle Attack -- DMAE and MSM Serum

If you guys find any items you regularly buy, and you find a similar on the EW site, please let me know and I'll link them.

Solid -- I hope you don't mind, I stole part of your list. Made it easy heh. If some of these numbers don't make sense, its because I added my own vote, and I have some friends who are gonna order stuff too.

This is just a general count, I'm not adding for how many oz one person wants etc. Cause I know I want at least 16 oz of the Jelly -- I wanna experiment with it. I also know I'm gonna take more than 8 oz of the lotion, etc.

Thanks for doing this!! I'm definitely interested....I will make a list and then post it here. Thanks again! Have you looked to see how much 8 oz bottles would cost by any chance? I would like to keep my cost to a minimum. Thanks again!

We'd have to order the bottles from a 2nd company, and there are a ton of sites. I found prices ranging from .70 to 1.25 (for an 8 oz plastic bottle), some with min orders of 100, and some with no min orders (they tend to be the more expensive). If someone else has site suggestions on where to order the bottles, that would be great.

Here are some bottle links. I have ordered multiple times from both of these sites and they both have exellent customer service.

Wholesale Supplies Plus has the squeezy "natural" bottles in 8oz and 16oz while Elements Bath & Bottle has 8oz it PET only, which may not be as squeezable.

I also LOVE the waterproof labels that Elements sells. They really are waterproof - the ink gets trapped underneath the top layer so the ink is protected. It would stand up to the producty hands that we all use when going from product to product, showers, etc. I'm not trying to make more work for you, Goober, but it might be a great idea even to order a sheet or 2 of the small labels and print the product name so we can distinguish. You could also put this in the price of everything.

I wouldn't mind a paper label with something like packing tape to seal it either! Of course it would be separate shipping for the labels if we don't order bottles from Elements.

    Squeezy bottles
    8oz - .50 each incl. cap
    16oz - .65 each incl. cap

    8oz natural round .35 each
    16 oz .50 each

    8oz clear PET bottles - .55 each

Well, I don't mind doing the waterproof labels (and here I was thinking of masking tape and a sharpie!), but everyone is going to have to agree on that, because they labels will have to be a part of everyone's cost. They look really inexpensive though -- it will just have to be up to you guys. I'm so not printing in colors lol.

I just thought of a question! What if say, only 2 people only want a specific product... can they maybe back out of they decide they don't want a half gallon of something? I noticed that some products come in 16oz bottles, but some don't.

I'd be interested in the Simple Jelly. Does it have preservatives in it (I'm not good with ingredients, so I don't know what to look for)? I'm only asking to see if it will go "bad".

If it won't go bad then I would probably go for the 16oz.

Does it go without saying that if there *aren't* enough people to split one product, it won't be ordered? So, if I'm the only one who wants one thing, Goob won't order it? If that's the case, I'd rather be responsible for my own purchases/shipping/charges, etc.

Goob, have you figured out how this is all going to work out? Can I help?

Sorry I've been MIA -- gave my hubby a small informal B-Day dinner last night, and been playing a new video game heh.

yes, this is a labor of love! No I'm not very organized, I've just been in a ton of Co-ops. Once you've done a few, its pretty easy to copy :)

    Here are some answers --

Dark -- there are definitely preservatives in the aloe jelly. I believe it at least has a shelf life of one year. I've combed through the site and they preserve stuff pretty well. I hope to get half a gallon myself just to play with.

Wavy -- I'm not familiar with Oil of Olay stuff, but my first guess is no. EW has a very distinct ingred list and its sorta unqiue. If you find someone who has a similar ingred, its probably because they are using EW stuff to begin with. Wavy, the amount you pay in the end depends on the number of people who order the jelly. However, I believe I've used an example in my first post of the end price of the jelly with shipping. I'll have to go back and look and make sure its accurate.

Solid -- it depends. For example, if you are the only one who wants a facial serum, and your max is 8oz, then no I won't order it. If you want a half a gallon of the jelly, and then some other things -- then it would probably be better for you to order and send it to your house on your own. That being said, a TON of people want the Jelly, so that is definitely something that will be split. I haven't had a chance to organize all the things people are interested in, so I'll have to look at other stuff and start compiling the "definite" list. Does that make sense? Even though the half a gallon is more expensive than the gallon -- you would prolly save on shipping.

I also think that I've been calculating the cost of the Simple Aloe jelly wrong. I don't know why I thought there would be eight 8oz bottles in a gallon, but a gallon is sixteen 8oz bottles. SooOOooooOoo that makes the base price of 8 oz 1.87, plus your shipping. And the half gallon is 2.5. And I'm pretty sure the shipping is reasonable. They have a shipping calculator on the website.

However, some of the serums and cremes start to get really expensive (and condishes), so that will probably be where people wanna split stuff.

Yes, at any time you can back out -- I will have all numbers up before I order. The only point where you cannot back out is after I have calculated the order and posted it. You guys will have to review it before I order as well. Once you send me the money though, you can't back out. Unless something terrible happens and you PM me about it in private, I would prefer not to deal with refunds.
