hi eveyone,
just wanted to pop by and see how everyone is doing. It's been pretty dead over here for awhile.
I've been pretty slack of late with the boards, sorry.
I'm trying to keep my PJ at check as well as be patient with growing out my hair.

I hope you all had a safe and wonderful christmas and new year.

Hope that 2010 brings lots of success to you all and hopefully some more activity on this board.

Miss you all

    Hey :)
The Aussie board has been pretty dead lately. Chrissy break is apparently the time when every board member disappears off the face of the earth.

Hope you are going well with growing out your hair! It's a long journey but back when I was growing mine out, it was fun and inspiring to see all the progress I made over time :)

Have a great new year (which is now not so 'new')!!! This year, I will strive to become less of a PJ. The products listed below are just some of the products I own. Bugger.

And yes, hopefully this board becomes more active. We need an advertisement for this board on the homepage!!! Lol.

yay! someone is here...not just talking to myself.

Oh alannah if only you could see my stash *looks around suspiciously* i'm slowly trying to get through it. I'm holding off buying anything more. Another lovely aussie curly girl sent me some Curls products which I was rather happy with (smelt so yummy!) but I am trying to hold off till I really need them.
I was keen on trying curl junkie but it's rather hard to get shipped here so I have been turned off that (which is good in way)

Right now I don't really have enough hair to be fussing about with products. Well at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Glad to hear your well - hopefull our fellow aussies will come out of the wood work again soon.

I'm here too:hello2:. I'm here just about every day (sad but true!). Nothing much to report on the product front as I'm trying to work through my stash too, before I let my pj off it's chain. I'm itching to try some cj and keep watching the exchange rate and thinking now would be a good time - I liked her old products back in the day before postage went silly.
Am heading to Melbourne Tuesday to see some tennis (yay:blob2:) and otherwise just trying to survive the school holidays then I can get back to my nice peaceful, house-not-full-of-boys routine!

Hello! I still pop in but am too much of a PJ to do CG! It wasn't suiting my hair either. And I was allergic to most of the non silicone products.

YAY! I'm glad you all are still visiting :D

Starmie - are you getting your hair cut in Melb while your over here? Only a few more weeks till school goes back (at least her) and you should have a nice quiet house - all the parents I talk to are ready for their kids to go back. I'm really holding out to try CJ stuff - the girls on the 2 boards are always raving about it - but I musn't, not yet.

feralcurls - it's nice to hear from you. Are you still using the KMS? I get frustrated ever now and then with cg, but my hair and scalp are so much better off with out sulfates.

LouLou - welcome!yay! another aussie for out exclusive club :D Where abouts are you from (state or whatever) - if you don't mind me asking?

curlywurlygurly - No I didn't get my hair cut while I was over. I've been tempted in the past when I've seen recs for hairdressers on the vogue website but always chickened out. I've found someone here now so I'm sticking with him. Anyway, my SO and boys came with me - I don't think they would've appreciated me going off for a haircut, I left them to their own devices every night I went to the tennis as it was!

Amda - I went for 3 night sessions and was very disappointed, saw nobody I was interested in, just the luck of the draw I suppose, I've always seen good matches in the past. Henin and Dementieva were good on the Wed night, but then it was Tomic and I was just a bit bored really. Bored again on Thurs when Federer played (don't like him, sick of the sight of him) though Casey Dellaqua was ok. Fri was Nadal (over seeing him too though was a good match) then Kuznetsova. Bet you wished you'd never asked!

    LouLou - I'm in Adelaide.

starmie - one of these days I will go and try out Lucy at Cast in fitzroy. Knowing my luck by the time I get the courage up to go she won't be there. Right now I've sworn off cutting until, well I had said feb I think, but I really wanna get to bob length before I cut again. I think i'm in the worst stage now; mullety and messy.

    Strawberry - welcome! :D

lou lou - I'm just out of melbourne. I just recently went holidaying in sydney - fun fun fun!

amda - good to hear you're still around. Btw I smile every time I see your avatar.. cute!

Just caved in and joined this forum  There is so much wonderful info on this site and thanks to all of it, I now have hair that I love! It's still not perfect by any means but so much better than it was re frizz and boof.

I live in Melbourne and would love to find out more about our local products, sulfate and silicone free of course, especially now that JC has been discontinued at Petra.

I am just about to try the Auroma hair products. Has anyone tried these?

    welcome! yay another melbourne curly!
It sucks that petra is discontinuing JC (some still have a few bits and pieces - I know doncaster has some low poo - i personally didn't like it)

Giovanni is available in healthfood stores - one in the CBD, elizabeth st I think that has a lot of it.

Mastey traite shampoo - low poo (one I started with when I first started cg) some hair house ware houses (HHWH) have it and price attack. You can buy one litre packs too. Really creamy consistensy.

matrix Biolage conditioning balm - HHWH etc

Pears make good cheap conditioners for co-washes, get them at safeways, priceline etc.

natures gate - available at some pricelines now (LOVE the asian pear one)

Burts bee - be sure to check labels though. I have a low poo that is meant for shine but I find rather harsh. Available at vitamee (health food) and some chemists.

Aubrey organics (AO) - available online or some health food stores. I love honeysuckle rose but white camellia was too oily for me (weird meant to be ligther?)

ummmm.. what else? there's a few differen't ones available at health food stores and priceline etc you just have to look. haha. ummmm I haven't tried hair care where do you get it?

"Giovanni is available in healthfood stores - one in the CBD, elizabeth st I think that has a lot of it."

My local health food store has this too - I will try this next! I need to use up some of what I have already got - PJ that I am.

So 2 days ago I decided to try out all the techniques I have read about so far on this forum all at once!

First, I spritzed and condished. I used the Auroma conditioner for this and left it in my hair for a few minutes.

Then into the shower where I co washed using Aldi condish. Rinsed and then with hair upside down I began the Ice Queen method, applying Matrix Biolage conditioning balm and scrunching until I could feel the curls developing. Then still in the upside down position I rinsed with cool water, scrunching hair clean of conditioner.

Then, with hair dripping wet, I applied my leave in, in this case it was Karparti cond. Then ( and this is my favourite part - it sounds so wierd!) I applyed a golf ball sized blob of KY Jelly. Plopped for 10 mins or so in a microfibre towel whilst moisturising, applying makeup, getting dressed etc. Then applied homemade FSG.

Airdried for a couple of hours and then blowdried with diffuser for a few mins, SOTC and voila! Beautiful curls!

It is now day 3 and the curls are still going strong. I am so pleased ...

Yep still using the KMS curlywurlygurly. Love it. I tried the HEHH after you lot were all sobbing about not being able to use it, lol. I can use it on a rotation basis and quite like that too.

Can't remember the name - or if i even knew the name but it's between little collins and flinders street on elizabeth st. If that makes sense?
They use to have all the giovanni + hair stuff just inside the door so you should be able to see it. I'm hoping it's still there.

Glad you're loving the KMS and HEHH :D I went looking for sample sizes of KMS but they had all the ones but the curl range and my scalp issues have plateaued for now - wait till exams hit again! eeek!

The store is called Great Earth Discount Health Shop.
It's still on Elizabeth St, between Flinders St and Little Collins, on the right side when coming from Flinders Station. Thank you curlywurlygurly. I bought some Giovanni Direct Leave-in conditioner and 3 x vegetable glyercin for my sister in Sydney-she can't seem to find them in Sydney and she is convinced her hair is 5 something :) but its 4 something, just really really dry. Thanks again!

Glad you found it :D let me know how the Giovanni DLI goes. I've been tempted to buy the sample size i've seen just to try. I'm on a hair care no spending ban - say I who just bought more hair oil (*roll eyes*). No new products till it's long enough to style I say, the oil on the other hand is for my scalp and to 'maximize' my growth. It cost me $4.50 - haha a true pj I am, having to justify my spending! *shakes head*

kissa - i'd love to know how to rate it against the curls products.

Thanks feral curls. Yeah, my hair seems to be more easily weighed down then yours. I've found especially since I've cut off all my colour/ heat damaged hair my hair behaves weirdly. Some things I can take more of but others I have to be more light handed on. I feel like I'm starting from scratch almost. Kind of frustrating.

Though this thread seems to have gone off topic, I thought I'd announce that I'm back after more than a year :) I'm glad to see you're all still out and about. I'm looking forward to experimenting more with my hair care again now that I've almost grown out all the bleach from my sad attempt at blonde. Look out for many posts on asking for advice on protecting my hair from the pool.
And I can see we have comrades to turn to when the US girls start talking about Summer hair issues, and we really need to focus on the Winter hair issues :D

Just saying hello too. I'm still around a fair bit but seem to spend less and less time here. Like AlannahAngel - my life is getting in the way! Been busy decorating and gardening (both way overdue) and went to Perth for Easter to visit some friends (had a chocolatey Easter Sunday at the choc factory in the Swan Valley, very nice!). And there's always the dreaded work rearing it's ugly head too.
Always find some time to obsess over my hair though.

    Completely off-topic, but;
The choc factory in Swan Valley is great isn't it :) I remember they had these massive bowls of choc chip samples and we were smuggling them into our handbags, napkins, etc LOL. It wasn't a real crime, but it was delishuss :)

It's good to see some of you guys back out of hiding after the Easter break :afro:

I will have to remember this place when I go that way. There is a very nice chocoholic walking tour that is run in Melbourne city, definitely check it out if you like chocolate and are in Melbourne. They take you to a range of little chocolate places and you try all sorts of chocolate.

I can't wait to go to the haigh's factory (again) later in the year :D I LOVE haigs!
