I have pretty decent ab separation too and my physical therapist told me that sit-ups actually make it worse. There are special exercises to do that help close up the separation. She told me to avoid any motions that resemble a sit-up.

I just thought I'd throw that out there. If the PT hadn't told me, I would never have known this and I would be doing sit ups too--god knows my OB never mentioned it or how to fix it.

My first c-section was vertical. There is scar tissue causing the wide separation, going all the way down to my guts (I can feel my guts through the separation...although I rarely do it, because it's disgusting). There is no way to ever bring those muscles together without surgery.

I'm thinking of sending the tummy tuck bill to the ashole OB who did my first c-section. I'd do it just to satisfy my own sarcastic sense of humor, but maybe he'll surprise me and have actually grown a conscience and pay it. I know he remembers me, because he botched the labor so badly that he followed my son's health for years afterwards through contact with the pediatrician.

Ugh I'm sorry to hear that. I think you *should* send him the bill. If just to give yourself the satisfaction.
