Hey, Jeepcurlygurl, I just saw your fotki, and I have to say, you are my hair idol! I am letting my gray grow out, and I need all the inspiration I can get. Your gray looks fabulous, and I really like the WAY it grayed, from the top down. Cool!

Oh that's so nice! Thank you!

I saw a woman walk past my office today with gorgeous bright white wavy shoulder length hair. I practically tripped over myself trying to get outside to catch her and compliment her on it (and ask her how she keeps it so white) but she was nowhere to be seen. Darn.

Is there anything special you do to take care of it?

I really don't do much special. I use the products in my sig. As I get more grey, I do use a little more Ojon that I used to. My grey does tend to get a little yellow because I spend time in the sun and wind and also in smoky bars. To help counter act that I use a purple conditioner once a week or so (I make my own - I get little tubes of red-gold corrector at Sally Beauty and mix it with a bottle of Suave or VO5 conditioner).
Other than that, I don't do much else. It really is very freeing to let my hair just do it's thing.

ITA! Jeepcurlygurl, I love your hair! I think that if I had enough hair to layer, esp. in back, we might be close to hair twins on days that my hair cooperates. Your sig gives me ideas that I need to cut down my stash of stuff I use in rotation.

Thanks!! You guys are just making my week.

I do tend to stick with things that make my hair happy and are cheap (tho I do experiment and change things up for fun once in awhile).

If forced, I could live with just 2 products - Suave coconut conditioner and LA Looks Sport gel.

Which conditioner do you put the red-gold corrector in? The cowash, or the rinse out, and about how long would you say it's in before you rinse it?

I mix one tube of color corrector with a full bottle of Suave or VO5. I use it once a week or so. I only co-wash and rinse. I don't re-condition or use a leave-in (unless my hair is feeling extra dry). I leave the conditioner in a few minutes, massaging my scalp and detangling. Then rinse, put in gel, done.

Jeepcurlygurl, seeing how good your gray hair helped me make the decision to transition. Regarding the color corrector, didn't you used to use the Roux silver minx? I have a bottle of it. Last time I got my hair trimmed, my stylist said I was a little yellow on top. Do you like the red/gold thing better?

Hear that crash? It's me falling off the CG wagon.

I did use that. But I'm all about minimizing so using the purple conditioner was one less step. Plus the color corrector is cheaper than the Roux.

Your hair is growing out beautifully. I saw other pics of you on one of the grey hair facebook pages I think. Looking great.

You all inspired me to ditch the hair color over a year ago. I'm not too white yet, just silvery, but I'm halfway there to all natural hair!

I have had some WHITE hair ever since 92' and have of course gotten lots more over the years. Is it common for naturlly curly hair to be more prone to go gray early? I have seen a few others that said they too have grayed early. I don't want to color my hair but would like to maintain it a little better. They are course and very white. any suggestions?

jeepcurly and sbb I am very inspired by your pictures. Curls2grow I remember seeing a picture of your hair going gray and it looked beautiful too.

I've been cg for a little over a year; I'm just starting to be able to manage my hair and not consider it my enemy. Its getting easier as the damaged hair grows out and healthier hair grows in. In other words I'm working on one level of acceptance of my hair. Going gray is a whole different level. I'm hoping that once I'm completely comfortable with my natural curl/texture, I'll be able to move ahead with going gray.

Did any of you go through a similar process?

I love grey hair, and especially curly grey hair! I've been greying gradually for about 5 years now, since I turned 30, I think. I have pretty grey patches at my temples, and a generous sprinkling of grey through the rest of my hair. I love it and will never dye it! I think it gives me more character, and I earned every one of those greys :)

Have you noticed the great condition of your hair since letting it go gray? I think it gets better with time. For the yellowing that still remains on my ends I use the Fanci Full White Minx and that seems to do the job. The website Going Gray Looking Great has alot of helpful hints.
