Becoming Modified.

I'm thinking of becoming a modified cg. Anyone got tips on being a modified curly girl? TIA!:glasses1:

What do you mean by "modified"? Do you want to re-introduce cones or SLS? Or do you want to use shampoo as a part of your regular routine?

I consider myself a modified CG - I need shampoo once in a blue moon; my hair is much happier this way. I tried to go back to cones at some point; it didn't work for me, so I have no tips/suggestions here.

I now know my texture/porosity!! (TY, Tiffany!) Medium texture; ends on a porous side; new growth - normal porosity.

I'm modified because I use cones whenI straighten and then need a low poo to remove them. But at all other times I only use CG conditioners. My only advice is you know your hair better than anyone - do what's best for it and make sure to just keep it as healthy as possible.

I've recently declared myself 'modified' as I'm now washing with black soap made from coconut oil and shea butter. I'm still not using any 'cones or SLS or other nasties though.

I am a modified because I shampoo pretty regularly but mostly use sls free ones and I use the nicer cones - peg modified ones or the a-cone. I find with my fine and thin hair the more frequent shampooing just works better for me. I can get weighed down even when using lighter conditioners and my hair never really adapted to just conditioner and/or water washing only. I find by using more 'natural' styling products I can get away with some conditioner washing when my hair feels like it needs more moisture but I like shampooing.

I'm Modified CG because I use a shampoo without sulfates. I don't use silicones or anything with sulfates so in every other way I am strict CG.

There are so many ways to be Modified CG. What are you looking to do? Use silicones? Shampoo bars? Shampoo?

Wow! Thanks u guys....love the hair btw. Here's my deal, I can do CG for a few days, then my hair goes "bleh!" I seem to get overconditioned easily, and my hair looks overconditioned and dry(odd). I can't go one day without washing, cleansing or something otherwise my scalp is uuuugly! So water wash it out of the question. I've tried shampoo bars, but my hair felt greasy.
So I guess what I am asking is what can or can't I use and still be CG? I obviously can't use sulfates daily or I will be referring to my hair as straw. I can't use that cyco(psycho-ha!) cone in any form....ew! Please tell me what cleansers, cones, etc you can use(that work for you anyway) Thank you!

Sounds like you need a couple lowpoos a week -- maybe just something with coco-betaine type cleansers. I do one once a week, just to get rid of product buildup. I use [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Come-Clean-Moisturizing-Shampoo-p-844.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Kinky-Curly-Come-Clean-Moisturizing-Shampoo]Kinky-Curly Come Clean[/buylink], but there are some other excellent options out there.

That must be why my hair looks dry now that I have been co-washing all the time. Maybe I have over conditioned my hair....

I consider myself modified CG because I started rotating in a gentle protein heavy sulfate shampoo once or twice a week. I find it less drying than most of the sulfate-free shampoos I've tried. I co-wash or use cleansing conditioners the rest of the time, and with the exception of the occasional use of Curls Rock Amplifier (cyclomethicone) I avoid non-water-soluble cones.

I am mod! I alternate co-washing and low-pooing - using a gentle sulfate poo once in a great while for clarifying.

Lately I've had great results from the CWC method, and am loving that!!

I'm a mod! I use Amodimethicone and I also don't mind mineral oil. I must clarify once a week, but no problems there.

I rotate between a cleansing conditioner and a low-poo, and throw an occasional sulfate-containing shampoo in the mix as well (~1x/week). My hair does much better with this than just straight co-washing!

My hair is fine and I can get build-up and overconditioned easily. I use Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus shampoo about twice a week. I find it cleansing but gentle. Co-washing alone just didn't work well for me - no matter how light a conditioner I used. Introducing a gentle shampoo made a huge difference,
