Denman Brushes

Hello,

I have seen posts where curlies used either the Denman D3 or D4 brush. I went to Sally's today and saw both. The D4 was firmer, where as the D3 seemed more flexible. What's the difference? Is one better than the other for certain routines? The D3 had fewer rows and seemed softer.

Any comments?

I'm pretty sure I've got the D4 and it's great. It gives awesome clumpage. You should try it. Sorry I'm under the influence of alcohol right now so I can't give a better description. It detangles well and makes your hair look pretty...what more can you ask for?

I prefer the D31. Its a seven row with wider set pins. Better for detangling in my opinion.

thanks. i'm going to look for the D31 brush. have you tried both (D4 and D31)? the denman website says that the D31 is especially good for detangling textured and thicker hair. that's seems good. i need to go back and see what it says about the D4.

    thanks again...

I have both the D3 and D4. I purchased the D3 after reading a review on this board about a year ago. Now that my hair is a bit longer (about 4 - 6 inches), the D3's bristles and base are way too flexible for detangling my hair. I love the D4. I use it daily. Sometimes, I use the D4 with just warm water and sometimes with conditioner. The D4 really stretches, detangles and clumps my hair without pulling it out! Compared to combing with my Mebco, the D4 is a dream. Just one thing, because my hair is sooooo thick, I go through a brush about once every 6 weeks. By this, I mean that the bristles start to stretch outward from the base. When this happens, the brush no longer has sufficient stiffness to detangle easily. Soooo, I just toss the old brush and move onto a new one. It's not a problem. . . . It's just the way is. Brush is $10.00 at Sally's, maybe $9.00 after my Sally's discount.

Wow, I don't think I have the problem of the bristles stretching and what not. It seems to do what it's always done. I will look out for this though.

I'm a big fan of the D31. I think the D3 and the D4 both look kinda scary.
