How long did it take you to conceive?

It took me 8 months to get pregnant with my first child, at 33 years old. I want to try for my second in a couple of years, and I am wondering if it is likely to take the same length of time, or more time because I will be older. How long did it take you guys, and was it the same for each child or different? And how old were you and your husband?

It happened pretty quick for us, 1st time we tried. We only have 1 child.
    I was 21, my husband was 25.

I voted the first one. I get pregnant the 1st month I try if my bc has had one month to be out of my system. That's how long it took me both times. I was young when I started though. I do have a friend who concieved her first two pretty quick, but #3 is taking a lot longer. I think she is in her early 30's now, while she was in her early to mid 20's with the first two.

I voted the first option - it took us 2 cycles but we had some issues during our first cycle on critical days (DH got severly bit by a dog and my dad had a horrible freak accident - all in one weekend) and that messed up our timing.

    So I guess one cycle?

#1 - 1 cycle. Went off the pill and was pregnant within weeks. I was 24.

#2 - 1 cycle. Decided that we were going to try and got pregnant again within weeks of not using protection (didn't go back on the pill after #1). I was 28.

We've been trying to conceive for over two and a half years. At this point, we've decided it isn't going to happen, so we just boink for fun.

    DS#1 - 18 months
    DD - 10 months
    DS#2 - 8 months.

I spent 3 years of my life just trying to get pregnant.

The sad thing is, a lot of people try that long and it still doesn't work for them. I at least have 3 healthy children at the end of it.

ETA: I charted for a year with DS#1, but stopped, and decided whatever would happen would happen. I didn't chart for the other two. I was 32 when he was born, 34 for DD, and 37 for DS#2.

First pregnancy took 3 months, but miscarried. Second pregnancy took 2 months, but miscarried. Third pregnancy took 8 months - this one was a success. Have not been using birth control since my daughter turned 1 year old (she is now 7), and still no pregnancy.

I went off the pill for a month, starting taking my temperature and charting (all my friends had trouble getting pg) and got preggo the first month. I was 23. The second time I did'nt take temp. and it took 3 months. I was 28.

I had my first son back in 1980. I quit taking the pill and it took me several months to ovulate on my own (had to take provera or something to help). But the first time I did ovulate, I conceived (we celebrated July 4th several times  and he was born 9 months to the day in April).

My second son was born in 1985 and we were using a b/c foam and I don't think it took long to get pregnant with him.

I got pregnant back in 2001 (my husband doesn't have children so we tried) at age 43 and it only took 4 months after we quit using birth control (a film type b/c). Unfortunately, it was an ectopic pregnancy and I lost both my right tube and my baby  .

I voted "under 3 months" as we weren't trying when we got pregnant. It was just a big "Welcome home, I missed you & we're still newlyweds!" sort of thing!

*eta I was 2 mos shy of turning 36 when I conceived & DH was almost 35.

I am 34 and my husband is 33 - both of us have July birthdays. I went off the pill 6 months ago, and I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility (great book) and started charting 5 months ago. I ovulated each month, but timing always varied. I am now pregnant, so I did not chart for the 6th month. This is my first pregnancy and though it seems really crazy right now when I am dealing with constant nausea, I would like to try to get pregnant again in a few years. I would definitely chart again.

I was 26 with the first one and it only took a couple months.- "trying"
This time around I'm 37 and I was off BC for three months when I got pregnant "not really trying"

Edit to add DD's father was my age, and my husband now is 32.

It took me one month last time, but I miscarried. Boo. After this cycle I'm going to try again and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an easy conception (and a sticky baby!).

I conceived the first month of trying with all 4 of mine. I was age 24 with the first, and age 38 with the last. I wish I could pass on my abundant fertility to someone more needy now that I'm not using it anymore.

Took a year and a half for our first (and currently, only). I was 36 when Zora was born (she's 7 months now), husband was 35. During all that time I was charting religiously and we ended up seeing a RE after 6 months with no results because of our ages. We ended up getting lucky and didn't have to have any assistance.

i was 27 when i got pregnant with our first. it took about 7 months. i think it took that long because i was at the tail end of finishing up school and had stress on me from that. plus, i was thinking too hard about becoming pregnant and was so disappointed each month that my period came on. stress can definitely play a role in conception.

with our second, i got pregnant on the first try. i was 31.
