Interesting question .. for me it's about length. Curls have to wrap around a bunch of times - 2.5 times I think - to be considered a ringlet. So, to me, ringlets are longer than curls.

which do you think has a bigger circumference? ringlets or curls?

To me a ringlet is tighter. Curls are bigger and bouncier.

I would say that a ringlet is a form of a curl. I don’t think a ringlet necessarily has to be a tight curl. I do think a ringlet is more like a "perfect" spiral and can range in sizes.

I'd consider that a ringlet. And since ringlets are curls- it's both! I love it when I get those "tubes".

A ringlet doesn't have to be a double-helix like that one though. I agree with xfoxelil1xx, a ringlet is basically a spiral.

    IMO - ringlet.

I don't think boticelli is ringlets at all actually. I think it's most wavy with a bit of curl at the end. I suppose it's all subjective though.

Ringlets are curls, but not all curls are ringlets. :tongue2:

Hmm. Interesting. My hair isn't wavy, though it can look like it is in pictures. What looks like waves are actually all spirals that stretch as my hair gets longer. The weirdest thing with my hair is that if I cut it to chin length the curls will tighten to 3B and even some 3C curls, but stretch out enormously when my hair gets long.

I've heard the Boticelli term a lot here and have never been clear on what it means exactly. I guess everyone has their own interpretation of it, just like all of the curl types. :)

For me, botticelli curls are a mix of loose curls and tight waves, like you see in Botticelli paintings like this one:

Botticelli=3a, right? I think I have a lot of that. I do get some pipe curls sometimes, and when I get them they stubbornly refuse to stay separated no matter how often I pull them apart.
If a ringlet is a spiral curl, then what is a non ringlet curl? a tight wave that curls on the end?
No cones since 08/25/09. Occasional low poo.

I tend to think of these guys as ringlets, although some don't consider them to be ringlets unless they are the tubular type.

*sigh* I'm in love with your hair. :love4: sorry, just had to say it.

and I'd call those ringlets too. Anything with a perfect spiral=ringlet to me.

Ringlet is a type of curl. LIke what was said before...all ringlets are curls but not all curls are ringlets.
    Ringlets are spiraly curls.
That's right, I said it! I wear scrunchies!!

I am a sulfate washing, cone slabbing, curly lovin' s.o.b. The CG police haven't caught me yet.
