What to ask for at the salon

Fellow 2s, help!

I'm new to wearing my hair in its natural wave, and I'm headed to the salon for a refresh on my highlights on Tuesday. I know I don't have a "curly cut" and that my waves are probably suffering for it.

What should I ask for? My hair is currently pretty short (just past my chin when straight), and when it's straight, there are some fairly obvious layers. I just want to give it the best cut that I can to encourage it to curl, KWIM?

Thanks in advance!

Here is a thread started by Strut's wife/aka tiffany/ aka curl whisperer. She's a curly stylist that is famous around here. It answers the haircut question in general. I have no help for you specifically. Other wavy's can give great style advice.

Just want to add, you have nice hair. Good luck with the cut.

Thank you so much! That thread is GOLD.

I think your hair is just gorgeous, btw. Very jealous of your color, and that your hair has that much curl at that length. Though I've only been CG for a few days, so I may get there.

Thanks so much. Pre CG I couldn't wear my hair curly/wavy. If I tried to diffuse it, it would end up with sort of a fuzzy texture, certainly not wavy or curly. I would have to curl every piece of hair on my head to achieve a faux curly look. Post CG I have a few ringlets. CG since beginning of Oct. Using way less sulfate poos since June.
Complement on my color cracks me up. My hair faded to a nice color after I accidental dyed it a quite unnatural burgundy.

Also, try to find a picture that you would like your hair to look like and bring it with. GL!:)
