Hard Hat Dryer AKA R2D2 - Sally's 20% coupon + free shipping

AlexjoujouAlexjoujou Registered Users Posts: 2,364
I revived Del's R2D2 thread on the main board but was wondering if any of the rest of you wavies use R2D2? If so which one?

With the coupon and free shipping it would be about $37 which is very good. We'd like it for DT's and for drying Tahia's hair as that is usually a 2 day thing.

Input? Thoughts? Anyone use? I would likely continue to diffuse normally as it helps with volume but she needs some help as we are getting colder and I hate her to go to bed with a wet head.

I still love mine...just pulled him out again. You've already read my comments in the other thread but I'll sum it up here. I have the Ion conditioning one that's in Del's first post.

I noticed a huge reduction in frizz as well as heat damage and noticed them almost immediately. It freed up time for me. I love my 20 to 30 min under the dryer to check e-mail, putz around here, and my fave is to read.

Alex, to dry Tahia's hair I suggest you attach a towel to it to help dry the length. My hair is BSL ans I attach a towel. My Deva stylist does too in her salon. I just use a dry plopping towel.

Many who still want the volume from diffusing start under R2D2 and end with a little diffusing for volume. I usually follow it with the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCurl-DevaFuser-Kit-p-913.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devafuser]Devafuser[/buylink] attachment for my underneath and any volume I want to add.

Here are the pics of the dryer with and without a towel attached. I make my own plopping towels so that's what you see attached to the dryer.

While I have much less hair than your DD it took under 30 min to dry my entire length under the dryer today. Since you are only doing her hair every 3 to 4 days the time spent could be really worth it. I read under it but she could always do homework, etc. Can't wait to hear how it works out for you guys.

I recently bought a hardhat dryer from Sally's. Mine is the Babyliss Pro Thermal Ionic . It has a floor stand. Believe me, the difference between drying my hair with this in abut 15 min. and walking around with dripping wet hair for hours is remarkable.
I use it almost daily, even if I'm just sprucing my hair up by misting and reclipping.

And you've gotten good reviews for the babyliss too:) The coupon is good and it's Holiday season too! Not to be an enabler, but I'm so glad I bought this dryer! If you have room for it, its really a great thing to have. I hope you get as much use from yours it as I do from mine. You can multitask while you dry your hair, as in reading curly hair blogs "while you wait". My little dog likes it too, she's always looking for a warm place to sit. My 3 yr old granddaughter calls it the big robot,
and has learned how to turn it on and off. It gives her great curls too!

Well we've been using the blue guy now for a couple of weeks. Loving him!

My son uses him the most--after his bath. He loves it.

I love it for my DT/PT/etc...and for Tahia's as well. She also likes to dry a bit under there on a cold day so no wet head and it sets before going to bed.

This was a great investment that I can see myself using for many years. I highly recommend it!! Or the Babyliss like Goldie and Crwritt got!

    Today I:
    water washed
used AO GPB as a rinse out
    smoothed and raked DoC
    smoothed and raked HETTm
scrunched out some water with flour sack towel
    air dried for 10 min
sat under the Babyliss Pro Thermal Ionic for 15 min
    SOTC

    And voila!

I was going for beachy waves instead of curls today, hence the smoothing and raking instead of scrunching and plopping. Next time I'll see how the dryer sets curls!

The first pic is wet, the 2nd and 3rd are dry.

    More comments about the Babyliss:
It works great for me when I shower after a long day and hard workout and need to get my hair completely dry and crunchy before pineappling and bed. The other night, I was so tired I didn't have the energy to diffuse so I sat under the dryer for 15 minutes. I got 100% dry and crunchy, pineappled, went to bed, and got good hair the next morning when I un-pineappled and SOTC'd.

I get better volume when I diffuse, and maybe a little curlier curls, but I get completely dry under the dryer in less time.

About halfway through my time under the dryer, I just bend upside down and "air out" my hair a little bit to get a little more volume at the roots.

I love the dryer. I wish I had more room to store it so I didn't see it all the time, but it really works great and saves me some energy when I'm feeling lazy!

Solidgold, I find if I clip the top of my hair I get a bit more control over the volume and the final result.
I keep my dryer in the office, kind of tucked into a corner. I often have it rolled up to the computer desk, so I can check mail or do some "work" while I'm drying. This morning I sat under it three times, between running around doing little chores, answering the phone, etc.
Kind of a bonus, I guess, is that my little dog loves it, and jumps in my lap whenever I sit down and turn it on.
She whines when I turn it off to get up!
I'd say, forget about putting it away, if you put it away, you'll forget to use it!

Thanks for the updates! I've been AWOL on here for awhile due to my new job. I'm catching up reading posts. I also do my showering, hair drying & pineapple before bed. Saves me time in the morning. With this below freezing weather we are having I could use a hard hat dryer to speed up the drying process at night. I'm going to wait for another Sally's special and go for it! I hope another coupon comes out soon!
