have any of you gone low-poo?

peyrouxpeyroux Registered Users Posts: 174
I got abba shampoo today, sulfate free, with aloe vera and water cress. I don't know if I need to go low poo, my scalp is usually dry, but I figured I'd get it as a back up just in case.

how do you know if you need to go low poo?

rinse out: Suave Naturals Aloe and Waterlily

I low poo every other day. I wouldn't be doing it if my hair didn't LOVE IT:love10:

Yeah, I knew to do it because my hair and scalp were greasy and. My scalp was breaking out, I figured I should switch to loo-poo instead of just co-washing.

I do it when my scalp feels really gunky and greasy, or I've used a product that has made my scalp itchy. Sometimes I need to use every other day or I get away with not using it for 3 weeks or more. It all depends on the weather, what products I've used etc.

    I didn't like cowashing, so I use a sulfate free shampoo 2x a week. I might up it to 3, we'll see.

Yeah, I do. At first, I thought I was a curly so I didn't think I needed to shampoo because all my life, I was told there was either big curls or little beach waves, and I had in between--leaning towards curly, so I figured I was curly and when I bought "Curly Girl" I was then informed I was actually a wavy, so I shampoo, and also my scalp was getting gross and greasy.

It's been about 2 months and I haven't low pooed yet. I think it's quite unusual for a wavy not to low poo, but so far I haven't needed one.
peyroux I think I will low poo tomorrow. I used Queen Helene's Cholesteral Conditioner Cream, which made my hair much more manageable, if not a bit flat, but left my roots a bit greasy.
If I remember right, that has mineral oil in it. Mineral oil has the potential to build up over time. If there is mineral oil in the QHCCC, an occasional low poo isn't a bad idea.

Some people with itchy scalp issues strongly prefer giovanni TTTT for cowashing over Vo5 and such. I have no idea if that applies to a dry scalp or not. I don't know what you've tried, just thought I'd throw it out there.

I probably lo poo once a week or every 2 weeks, Giovanni 50:50.
In between I use [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCurl-No-Poo-p-53.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacurl-nopoo]Deva no poo[/buylink] or just cowash. Usually that's enough.
I go off of feeling as well, if my scalp feels and looks greasy, I lo poo. If I just feel like I need a wash, then I no poo. If I feel I need a little moisture, I co wash or just condition.

I sometimes low poo daily. Depends on what I'm doing with my hair. My hair is back to being pretty porous so it holds product--depending on product that can be good or not so good. I'm a complete PJ so I try new stuff all the time.

My daughter low poo's when we its wash day. We use way too many products for her not to do that....otherwise we found way too much buildup as her scalp seems to be a magnet for build up. Mine isn't--I just feel like a low poo clears the slate for me and then my conditioner works better.

I either low poo or water wash every day. If my hair feels good I'll just water wash. I also use a couple of things that are probably between a poo and a co-wash conditioner (Komaza Almond Cleansing Conditioner and Hairveda's Amala Cream Rinse) so I will often use one of those in place of a poo.

Lately I've been low pooing a lot as I am apparently allergic to the nickel in the bobby pins or something else because I'm getting bumps/acne type sores in my hair wherever the bobby pin has been. UGH! I've been using several oils on my scalp to combat this (really wanted the Qhemet Biologics Tea Tree Pomade but missed their BF sale).

I don't low poo at all. Haven't used any poo of any sort since April.

I do own some for my kids, though. They all have straighter hair than me, just a hint of wave, but I switched them to low-poo when I went CG. And it took care of their oily scalp issues as well, plus their hair is really glossy and shiny now. I low-poo their hair 1x per week and they all condition with Suave Naturals. So I'm of the opinion that mod-CG is good even for non-curlies.

Do you have a Whole Foods or other health food store near you? They carry the Giovanni line.

I've also seen it at Rite Aid, if you have those near you. And, if you really want to try it, I can send you a sample of mine (I have a ton -- I used it before I went CG for scalp issues) if you can't find it near you.

Target doesn't keep it in their shampoo isle. In Target they keep it in the natural products isle. It's by the Burt's Bees stuff. They have 2$ travel sizes if you want to test drive it.

If you have a Target close by, Giovanni is there too! I highly recommend both the TTTT and the 50:50 shampoo. TTTT is my favorite but the 50:50 seems a little gentler to me.

I low-poo pretty much every other day and cowash in between. My scalp does not like the cowashing if I do it any more than that. And my length does not like low-pooing every day. So every other is a good balance!

I low poo just about every other day. Our water is reeeaaalllyy hard, and I think the minerals would build up on my hair if I didn't. I'm using the Deva Curl Low Poo right now, but would be open to suggestions for any low poos you guys love!

I'd try the Giovanni, but really HATE the way the bottle is designed. I've got the conditioner and the bottle really bugs the heck out of me.
