VO5 buildup??? Questions...

I posted last week concerning my hair issues, and after trying several things in the last few weeks tonight I broke down and used a sulfate shampoo and silicone conditioner. I also straightened it because I'd rather have straight soft silky hair than straw limp dry sad frizzy dead tangly curls. I do plan on going back to my natural curls as soon as I get this figured out, but the extreme hair loss I've been having on top of what I described above is just not worth it.
So now let me get to the point...I realized the one common denominator in my routine that I have not changed is co washing with the VO5, and tonight when I used it I noticed immediate buildup.
Does anyone have issues with buildup using VO5? I never had problems in the 5+ months I've used it, but I have changed up all other products except this with no improvement in my hair. My next question is does anyone know what ingredient could be causing the buildup?
I really want to get to the bottom of this so I welcome any input. :)

lauren you'll find a lot of curlies here can't use Stearalkonium Chloride & Cetrimonium Chloride in high doses. Even though the Suaves and V05's are supposed to be lighter, the high percentage of these surfactants can make your hair feel "build-upy" from a a ruffed up cuticle. In addition you can get OC'd more easily when using a co-wash first and then a rinse out.

I stopped co-washing a long time ago. I use the same condish as my rinse out and get much better results now doing Spritz & Condish washing.

Thank you Del!!! Just the insight I was looking for. What do you mean by spritz condition? I could look into it since I've seen posts using this term, but have not read them. I so hope this is what has been causing me all these problems, because it would be such an easy fix.
    Thanks again!!! :D

link is in my siggie ;)

even if you don't S&C try just washing once with your regular rinse out to see what happens & go heavier on your LI for added moisture. Eliminating one step might make things easier for you and if you're using water soluble products it may be all the cleansing you need. Just make sure your conditioner has surfactants in them. KBB milk wouldn't be good for this purpose maybe try that as your LI. Some people can use their rinse out as a LI too you could always try that.
