Winter fragrance

I love perfume but I have such a hard time deciding which I would like to buy.

What is/are you're favourites for the colder months?
Fat does not make you fat. It's actually pretty important.

I agree with LC. Bath & Body Works used to make a scent called "Sparkling Snowflake" which I use as a room scent rather than a perfume. It has a perfect vanilla fragrance, which I love.

Otherwise, it's Chanel Coco for me. I should probably branch out, but I'm lazy.

Fracas by Robert Piguet. It's a big tuberose scent. Apply sparingly! Even though it's a straight white floral, it's big and grand enough to be wintry.

Couture by Moschino. Top notes of black pepper, aldehydes; and bergamot; heart of poppies and other flowers, base of benzoin and cedar. Warm, sweet, and spicy.

Can't afford it, but Mitsouko by Guerlain. Beautiful peach chypre.

Cheapie options: Encens Mystic by Crazylibellule & the Poppies (a very dry church incense) and Tibetan Mountain Temple by Pacifica (orange, patchouli, vetiver, sandlewood, ginger)

In the winter, I use bath and body works 'Japanese Cherry Blossom' it's very soft and powdery smelling

I'm very subtle and light in my winter fragrances, but when it warms I love bright, sharp scents, like DKNY Green Apple (spring), and Clinque Happy (summer), and in Fall, Rice Flower and Shea (then Brown Sugar and Vanillia as it grows colder)

I love Philosophy Falling in Love and Unconditional Love. Amazing Grace (also by Philosophy) is good, too (a little stronger). :)

I just bought Brandy (thanks for the referral to www.luckyscent.com, Mamacurl3!). It's a spiced apple cider fragrance that is very warm and buttery. I sniff myself when I'm wearing it.

I also like Neroli by L'Occitane. The first time I sprayed it, I was appalled and couldn't wait to wash it off, but before I'd driven three blocks, I couldn't wait to buy a bottle.

Anything with oud/aoud. It's too heavy for summer, but I love it in fall and winter.

Right now I'm all over Midnight Oud from Juliette Has a Gun. To me it smells like wood, leather, and dark roses.

I wear fragrance oils and just got a bunch of new ones. I like mostly food scents. I tend to reach for the lighter citrus and coconut ones in summer and the heavier amber, vanilla, spice ones in the winter.

(Well thanks, spammer, for bringing up this old thread)

    ^ Right :)

I recently bought Giorgio Armani 'Acqua di Gioia'. I adore it and it has notes that will work for any season. The same day I purchased it I tested a second perfume that is winter worthy. It is very hard to find warm and spicy perfumes that read well on me. Dolce & Gabbana 'The One' is a lovely rarity. I had to go back and get it. How could I possibly pass up a touch of classicism in a bottle? It's the only way I wear it ;) :

The One is a warm, oriental floral, with modern sensuality - a fragrance with a strong personality, and a contrasting golden sweetness. Created for the ultimate diva, The One is at once tempting, modern, and glamorous, embracing a touch of classicism. The top notes radiate a vibrant luminosity, with a sun-touched citrus, while warm fruity notes of luscious lychee and succulent peach add to the delight. The passionate heart evokes an exploding femininity, with an opulent floral soul, creating a distinct, audacious signature. An unexpected hint of plum glows as the base finally blooms with luscious allure into the lasting warmth of vanilla and sweetened ambery-musk notes.

^ this is the description on Sephora, btw. It cracks me up but I find they include all the notes while other sites leave out many.

Yea, the Spammer is doing a good job at choosing the old threads. :thumbleft:

I'm going to check out "The One." It sounds like what I like in a fragrance. thx, Fifi.

i sniffed about 8 new fragrances at Sephora last week - all of them were too floral for my liking.

i'll have to take a sniff of the D&G. on Monday night, my co-worker dragged me into Abercrombie Kids at the Eaton Centre and i fell in love with their Hadley scent. of course they don't have a store in this town...

    You're welcome.

It is slightly more of a skin scent. When I tested I did my first spritz, walked around for awhile, and went back for a second spritz on my wrist. The scent really came out then. They do make a lotion, which I would like to get as well. It does last longer when layered.

Hope you (and Rou) like it!

I rarely even wear perfume, but I want The One after reading that description! I'm hoping Ulta has it next time I go so I can give it a sniff.

I find if I'm not super careful to barely spritz on perfume it makes me sneeze all day. Hate that because I have two that I really like, but rarely ever wear.

That description reads all loveliness, but, to me, it deciphers as a fruity floral, which isn't my taste for winter.

There's another version of The One called L'Eau The One and this is what Basenotes says about it:
anything with bergamot is my kind of scent!

For winter, I go for vanilla and amber scents.

Me too...I don't wear perfume much, but I love vanilla and amber body butters.

Bodycology also makes a nice body mist in "brown sugar vanilla" and "toasted vanilla sugar".
