How to keep hair out of my face?

I like to wear my hair down - for about an hour - then it's up in a pony tail. I can't seem to keep the front out of my face. I end up tucking it behind my ears which looks really blah. I've tried clipping it up in front, but somehow I end up looking like a 12 year old. Does anybody have any techniques for clipping the front up?

No help here-I go with the 12 year old look on a 48 year old. I will sometimes use headbands too.

I wish I knew how others keep those elastic headbands that go around the whole head on their head. When I try to wear those they slide up the back of my head and annoy the CRAP outta me. And I like the idea of them because they do not dig in and I can get colors that blend with my hair (brown) but they annoy me too much so I have given up on them as well.

When I do clip up the sides I try to do it loosely so it looks a little 'cooler'. And I use clips/barrettes that are small and blend in as well.

And like you - I last about an hour or two with my hair down...but I do not have long enough hair for a ponytail so it is always just pulling up the sides/front for me.

I love that headband look too, but they won't stay on my nog either, lol.

If my hair looked like this when I pulled it up I would be happy with it up every day:

I can't wear those headbands either and I love them :(

I make sure that when I'm clipping before diffusing I clip the hair up and away from my face how I want it to dry. Works most of the time. I feel your pain on not wanting to rock the 12 year old look.

Who can wear those hand bands then? Or are the people wearing them just as annoyed as us but still wear them? I am always tugging at the back of them near the nape of my neck.

My hair will just not stay back no matter how much I clip or diffuse off my face.

I wonder if my hair is telling me I should have bangs again.:sad1:

Just the front bang section pulled back and secured with 2 bobby pins on each side that criss-cross to kind turn it into a barette. I also do it with the snap-clips, but only use 2 snap-clips and criss-cross them.

I can wear those headbands but only the non-slip ones made by Goody I think. They have little grippies like the bottom of non slip socks on them and they seem to stay. Though my hair is more on the coarse side and is never very smooth when I wear them so maybe that helps them stay put.

3b/c mix; mixture of fine, med. and coarse texture with med-high porosity

Current HG routine: Tresemme Naturals conditioner; AG Fast Food LI; AG Recoil; CJ CIAB = no crunch, lots of body and awesome definition

I wear the thin plastic headbands, not the elastic ones. They look almost the same. I put it in at my temples so that it's not pulling all the hair away from my face just the top. This was pre-cg, and you can't even really see the headband, but this is what it looks like, and I didn't tease the back or anything to get that little bump, either. I always have a headband and an octopus clip with me when I go to work just in case.

I've also used the tiny claw clips to hold my hair in place while it dries, root clipping and all, and if I do a good job with placement I've just left them there. They look fine. I use the black or brown Goody brand ones.

Can't wait to get my flexi-8 clips.
No cones since 08/25/09. Occasional low poo.
Fine, normal to low porosity (still not sure which), ii, 3a/3b curls

I do this too, however, I hate to admit it, I use a spritz of hairspray just on the part that I clip back - that way when I take the clips out after it's dried a bit, it pretty much stays there. I know it's not good to do, but otherwise my hair goes flat in the front and falls into my face.

Sunshinegrrl, those pix are so cute. I love the twists and bp's. I'll have to try it, though I'm a 43-year-old broad who usually sports the "12-yr-old with hair clipped back" look. I don't know if I could pull this off either, but who cares!

I wear headbands all the time - the thin ones with the grippies or fabric at the bottom - but they squeeze my brains! Sometimes I can't take it for more than a few hours - I think I must have an oversize head.

I've found that plopping really helps get the front sections to flip back, but they still want to fall forward unless I shpritz with a little shpray. Or, I'll use the small, cheap Scunci barrettes (without the "no slip grip", those things pull my hair!) and arrange about three or four of them to pull the top section back. This looks pretty good - the curlier my hair, the better it works.

Even the Goody no slip ones bug me. I like the thin plastic headbands but I wear my glasses almost every day and the back of my ears get irritated with both. It's just my luck because I love headbands.

I have a friend that uses hair combs and they look great. I found some cute ones on etsy. Unfortunately they slide right out of my thin crown.

Lordy that's me. Slide right out. I used to use hair spray (for volume and holding power). *sgh* life was so easier then! Took me about 10 minutes to get ready.

I use bobby pins now but I still feel 12. The nice elastic headbands are just a huge :tweety: on me. Ditto much of the rest. Fall off, hair sticking out all over, look like I spent the night in the back of car somewhere no lie. I'm WAY too old to rock any look like that! :geek:

    YES TO THIS!!!!

I also do it the Sunshinegrrl way too. But I still wonder if I look like I am trying to pull off a young look on an old person. And I do use the ones that blend in my hair...dark brown or black. I use the snap barrettes as well and the tiny jaw clips.
