Uneven skin tone

A lady at the makeup counter told me that the lighter blotches on my face are from using chemicals in my hair(i.e. relaxer). I usually get these blotches on my cheeks. Now they're around my eyebrows and my hairline. I also think the sun contributes to it. After awhile they seem to go away, but they haven't lately. What do I do? The makeup lady suggested microdermabrasion. I mostly have dry skin. Sometimes it gets oily. But the dry skin can get really dry, sometimes it peels. What would you suggest?

    a consultation with a dermatologist - seriously!

if you have some type of chemical burn on your skin, you need to have it properly assessed and DON'T do microdermabrasion!!!

Now you've made me nervous. I hope it's nothing too serious. :(

Recently (as in last year), I started getting white-ish blotches on my left upper arm and cheeks. They weren't like superwhite, but they were noticeable. Over a year, the blotches have kinda changed shape a bit...on the my arm there is now a bunch of little patches instead of one big one. The one on my cheek is less noticeable.

When I went to the doctor a few months ago she told me that basically your skin gets so dry that it can't produce pigment....I also heard the sun contributes. I'm supposed to go to a specialized derm sometime soon, though...

(Oh, and I've never used chemicals on my hair ever)
    3b/c...or thereabouts.

That makes sense. I will go to a derm to check it out.
