FLAt ironing WITh COCONUT oil?????

i am six-seven months post and i wanted to know if i could use coconut oil in my hair while flat ironing i use heat protectant so i dont know how that will work any ideas?/have u tried it? i did it on my moms natural hair and it turned out BEAUTIFUL but i dont know if its good or bad....helpp
