Winter flat top and less curls :(

My hair loves warm weather. It has a lot more volume and curl when the weather is warm. I get flat top and less curl when the weather is colder...the waves/curls are really defined, shiny, soft and frizz-free...everything I want them to be except for lack of volume and less curl!

I know the cold weather is doing this. The temperatures have been rocking back and forth the past few weeks. First it got cold. The curl loosened and the volume was reduced. It got warm again, and I had a good hair day--it was warm for a few days. Then it got cold again, and my hair is flat: warm one more time for a few days, and now it got cold and my hair is flat.

I'm moisturize a lot...I bumped up the moisture since it got cooler...nice co-wash, thick rinse-out and leave-in conditioner every day. My hair is defined and beautiful but not curly enough and no root-lift. I don't know what I can do...I already condition a lot. Please help me!

I wanted to bump this because I'm just starting out and the first time I tried CG methods, I got a really nice full head of curls (albeit growing out a straight perm, but my natural hair was more curly than I could have imagined),....and then the next 2 times I did the methods, I got a lot of ehnnnn.

Then I realized that first time was at the end of humid weather and now it's much dryer!

So it's good to hear that this is just what happens in the winter...but I'd love to hear more advice for winter methods if anyone's got them!
    CG since Nov 15

Growing out straight perm so half my head is wavy curly and the other is bone straight (lopped off half my hair Oct 28 )

Tends to be a bit dry

I have exactly the same problem and I have yet to find a 100% miracle curly cure, but I do find that Less-is-more productwise at this time of year.

I dont know what will work for other people, but in summer weather I use my normal/intensive conditioner as a leave-in, whereas in winter it just weighs down my curls and I have to resort to a light specifically-designed leave-in. I dont use [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink]. I dont use any curl boosters. I just use gel (boots pink) when my hair is damp (not soaked) and scrunch ;o)
    UK Curly
    Boots essentials range - Co-wash
    Aussie Miracle Moist - Conditioner
Any non-cone Leavein I can find (its not easy)
    Boots essentials - Gel

Always brush with a comb. and wrap in a microfibre towel to dry.

Last winter was the first winter that I had curls. Usually, I'm a winter wavy. I attribute it to cleansing with the natural soap bars. They tightened my curl and increased volume. Of course, I think that learning to work with my hair helped a lot, too.

Yes, I think you have a point. Perhaps I have been weighing my curls down...I think I'll go easy on the products.

My leave-in is pretty heavy (Lustrasilk OOC), so does anyone know of a nice, light leave-in? Fluffy4Eva, what leave-in do you use for winter? :)

I've been using this combo a lot lately:

    -Lustrasilk
    -[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]Re:coil[/buylink]
    -LA Looks Mega Hold Gel
    -EcoStyler Krystal styling gel

I'm going to try getting a lighter leave-in (if you have recommendations please let me know!) Using only a drop of LA Looks for hold, and then just a little Ecostyler for definition. But I've also heard that thick, rich curl creams are great for winter...lol I'm confused!

I'll have to do some experimenting. Do you think investing in a hairdryer with diffuser attachments would be worth it? I would do the Pixie curl method, and maybe it'd made my curls curlier and reduce drying time a lot. Would you guys recommend it?

    Thanks :)
