Wash Hair with Baking Soda

Has anyone tried this? I did, with warm water and my hair feels strange. Its softer, but my curls are more wavy now. They are normally springy, ringlet little things with waves here and there. I like the refreshing feeling, but just want to hear of others experience.

I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard that you need to follow up with an ACV rinse to neutralize the PH and seal up your cuticles.
Coarse, thiiiick, porous, drrrry, 2c, dislikes proteins, likes ACV!
Suave or V05 for co-wash, Garnier Nutrise triple nutrition and sleek & shine, Matrix Biolage conditioning balm, FSG and LA Looks sports gel.

I did one this weekend. it made my hair feel curlier. ACV is good to do at the end of the wash. I always do one. Just make sure you dilute properly!

How did you do it? How much baking powder did you use?

I add baking soda to my conditioner for my co-wash, I love it.

The best way for me is adding about 3 tbsp baking soda to one cup of my regular co-wash condish. If you need more than one cup of condish, mix accordingly. Co-wash as usual and follow with an ACV rinse for pH balance. It works great to remove any buildup that may be caused by some products even if they are CG friendly.

I made it! Tailbone length stretched, WL curly

Teri Laflesh's book "Curly Like Me" sits on my desk and everytime I get frustrated and an impulse tells me to shave my head, I look at it in hopes that one day my hair will graze the top of my butt.

I've tried it. As much as I hate to admit it my 4a/3c hair likes shampoo and clarifying especially with baking soda. It makes my hair so much softer and my scalp is happy. I like to hear the squeak at the end when I rinse for the last time...one thing I usually forget to do is the ACV part. Nothing horrible has happened to me yet though. It's good stuff.

I've use it, and followed with a deep conditioner. I definitely noticed that it was alkaline, but it did not dry out my hair. Instead, my hair felt soft, clean and product free. I've only used baking soda four times.

Baking soda is very harsh on the hair(it strips everything off) but it is the only way to get the oils out before I color with henna/indigo otherwise I get bright orange roots with black hair!

Its because hair likes pH closer to the acidic side... like 6-6.5ish and baking soda and water is basic. You are clarifying but taking the hair out of its element and that's why more curlies are starting to lean to ACV rinses. Get the right dilution going and as soon as it hits the hair you'll see spring!

Even water is more basic than hair which is why the products you use are key to providing balance. LOL.. my BF tells me my hair care is half witch doctoring and half chemistry and its totally true. Its constant balance.
