Advice for my hubby (4a, growing out)

My hubby has been bugging me to grow out his hair again and start putting junky petroleum stuff in it.
I hate that petroleum stuff and told him I'd find him something better.
He is ethnically African and has 4a curls (my best guess).
I want some kind of pomade that has no petroleum, mineral oil and no -cones of any kind. Also it should be under $10/2oz.

I was considering the Giovanni Magnetic Pomade but would like to get some suggestions as well.

Thanks!

2a-c and sometimes even 3a (on a good day).

Growing, growing, growing.
Cut major layers into my hair to increase volume around the crown....myself, yes, with the help of a Youtube video, sharp scissors and bravado! Don't think I'll be paying anyone to cut my hair anytime soon :)

I suggest Lustrasilk (the Olive Oil Cholestrol Lustrasilk and the Mango Shea Lustasilk are the top contenders) as a leave in and it's 2 bucks and some change for 20 oz!.

Conditioner, I can't help, still trying to find mine, but I hope this helps!
