Protein/DT before or after color?

Need advice - I'm getting my highlights touched up on Saturday (can't wait!) and I'm not sure if I should do a protein treatment before the color, then DT after, or what?

My hair does like protein and I think I'm supposed to do a treatment before the color. But then afterward, do I wait a day or two before DT?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thats what I do - a protein treat before it. DT after but wait a couple of days so that your colour sets in.

I think I read somewhere you can do it either a week before or about ten days after. If you do it earlier after getting your color done, it might leech some of the color out. I could be wrong, but I swear that's advice I've gotten.
Trying to figure out porosity - medium to low, I think? Medium texture, rapidly greying, and free of dye/relaxers since 2010. Recently chopped from hip length to a jaw-length stacked bob:)

Something like what battah said is my understanding about protein treatments too. I can't remember if it is do it both before and after, or just before OR after. I'm just listening to what my hair needs now, and need to color soon as well. For now I'm just trying to get my hair to HOLD the protein I'm adding...:cussing:

Piece of advice from a blonde who used to go fully platinum years ago: even though you mentioned highlights, I'd definately ask your stylist about it (and check poos/COs for sulfates and cones!) because even though you're going lighter, having the toner jerked from your hair is going to leave a weird color result if you do a treatment too soon after coloring.

Thank you! I knew there was a thread somewhere in which Tiffany said something about DT after color, I just couldn't find it.

I swear I read some advice that she gave about protein before color but I'll be darned if I know what she said.

I've always done it a week before and no sooner than 10 days after.
