Good deep treatment?

GeorgeGlassGeorgeGlass Registered Users Posts: 22
Hi there, guys. I'm looking for a good, CG friendly deep treatment to use after my weekly low 'poo and after I colour. At the moment I'm using Redken Real Control Mask, which is good but it has 'cones, and I've also been using the conditioner that comes with my monthly box semis after I colour. I feel guilty about using 'cones, so I was wondering what my fellow Aussies like. My hair loooves protein, btw.
Australian 2a wavy, very fine, porous, rather thin, below the shoulders and slowly growing out to bra strap length.

Daily: co-wash Ecostore Normal Hair Conditioner, rinse-out Kevin.Murphy Luxury Rinse.

Weekly: low-poo Kevin.Murphy Angel Wash, d/t Redken Real Control Mask (NOT CG - looking for a good, available in Australia, 'cone free d/t)

Style: Redken Touch Control mousse, and lots of it, SOTC with Kevin.Murphy Easy Rider, define the ends with MOP Liquid Wax

    Although i have been rather slack on the dt front of late here are my suggestions;
    - the l'oreal pink nutri gloss treatment (i happen to have an allergy too)
    - adbury organics GPS - protein treatment
    - coconut butter/oil (health food store)
    - google snowy's SMT - 4 part conditioner 1 part aloe vera gel 1 part honey i think?
    ummm....
that's all i can think of for the moment.

I'm not sure if your hair will 'like' this since everyone's hair is different, but I section my hair into three sections and smooth extra virgin olive oil onto each section. Then I just put a plastic cap over it and let it soak in for an hour or so. Then I just rinse it out. I love it!

I really like oils. Coconut is my fav but avocado is pretty good too. Shea butter is good, can be hard to find in Australia.

Thanks for the tips, guys! I reckon I might give MOP's protein a go, with coconut oil for moisture when I need it.

For a pure protein hit have a look at De Lorenzo Protein Complex. It actually looks CG unless the formula has changed as I have had mine for a while.

feralcurls - i think i use to have the de lorenzo protein complex.. long before i understood the need for protein then moisture. So never got to understand how to use it, but i did also have an amazing conditioner from their range.

I tried this years ago and found it really strong. Used it once and it was ok, used it again about a month later and my hair was in a dreadful state. Now I'm not sure my hair at the time needed that much protein and like cwg, I didn't know then about doing a moisture treatment afterwards but I've never done a real treatment since and I actually threw the (v. expensive) bottle away as the state of my hair frightened me!

My hair is feeling a bit stretchy and protein hungry, and I know De Lorenzo is less expensive than MOP, so I'll pop by Hairhouse Warehouse next time I'm in town to see if it's CG friendly. Some MOP products have surprise silicones in them, which I'm not thrilled about. Thanks for the warning, Starmie!
