Why why WHY did I listen to her!!!!!

My mother-in-law is forever pestering me to cut my hair short "because it looks so cute!". I have done it a few times in the last 20 years, but every time I do I regret it. Thing is...I don't think she likes my curls. The styles she "suggests" are always very straight, very layered looks. So I think I cave because I feel insecure and want to just ... shut her up (that sounds horrible doesn't it?) Well I can't pull off those styles! Plus it's a nightmare to manage.

Well, I let her talk me into it again and I'm so mad at myself! It's been a couple months, but the frustration I feel has hit a high. I cannot manage my hair when it is shorter than my shoulders. Ugh...I'm such a wimp for caving. Now I have to go through another growing out phase.

Sigh. It's my own fault. I love her to death and just want to please her. She loves me too. But I think that is the problem ... she says things only a mother would say!

awwww it will grow back. Next time you just have to stay firm in your decision not to cut.

well, did she atleast like it?

Anyway that really doesn't matter now does it cz you have to live with it now.

I had this situation with my mother in law (on a much worse level) and I was excusing her behavior because i was thinking she was acting out of love, but you need to stand strong, she has her own kids to mother let her bully them.. lol

On the bright side maybe you cut off some older less healthy hair from the ends..

Just focus on keeping your hair healthy and I hope the time goes by fast for you waiting for your longer curls.

Oh yeah, she loved it. I actually had it cut again today, but this time I went to a stylist who specializes with curly hair. So I think we got my hair laying nicely and it is all set to grow out nicely.

So maybe in a way my MIL did me a favor. I had to find a new stylist and I might not have looked so hard if I hadn't gotten the first cut. I've decided to look at the positive side of the situation!
