Been a while...

since I have been CG, several months anyway. I know it's like riding a bike, but I always wondered something. Are you supposed to blot/scrunch out the water before you apply product or after? I was thinking after, otherwise you would be removing product, right? What about plopping? Does that defeat the purpose of putting product in your hair?

Thanx

    Hey marinacurlz,
it's been a while for me as well.. I saw your other post how you've just come back to CG and it's the same story for me as well.

I squeeze (like scrunching) some of the water out of my hair before putting LI on, then squeeze more out with my t-shirt before putting my gel in. I never plop though, just a pain in the butt for me and doesn't do much. I just use my shirt and blot/scrunch most of my water out after putting product in and it doesn't seem to take any of the product out.

    Hope that helps!
I'm keeping it simple and curly... Jonna

My hubby was telling me that I am wasting gel, so I was just curious if he was right!

I apply all products to soaking wet hair using wet hands (like when you make meat or matzoh balls.) I don't plop, but wrap a Curlease towel around my hair to keep it out of my face while I do make up, then scrunch with a Curls Like Us cloth--and dry.

It may remove some product, but it works!

Hey, marinacurlz! Haven't seen you around much lately...

As with so many things related to CG, this one is not a one-size-fits-all topic. I used to scrunch everything into really soaking wet hair but I found that my hair has more body if I scrunch out excess water with my hands first and then apply product. So, my hair is still wet but not as wet.

Everybody is different, though. If clumps are more important to you than body, then applying to soaking wet hair will probably yield better results.

The water helps product adhere to the hair, from what I've read. Some is lost to the towel but not as much as you might think. Like Kathy says, it really does work!

Yeah, I remember it working really well. I didn't have luck with the microfiber in the past, though I may have to try it again. However, I was getting good results from my hubby's old undershirt(100% cotton)
