So how many threads are you subscribed to?

JusduitJusduit Posts: 578Registered Users Curl Neophyte
I just reached 100 threads that I'm subscribed to. My intention is to go back and re-read them at a later date and possibly do more research on the subject in the thread (just didn't feel like it at the moment I ran across the thread). I use to save them in my favorites but it seems like every time a change was made to the board, none of the bookmarked threads would reopen :angry5: ....so now I just subscribe to the threads that interest me.

How many threads are you subscribed to?

I wonder if there is a limit as to how many you're allowed to subscribe to?

LOL! I think that if you post in a thread, you automatically get subscribed to it. You can click on Thread Tools and choose to 'Unsubscribe from this Thread' or you can choose to subscribe to any thread you want to.

    HTH!

I don't manage subscribed threads. That is, I don't actively subscribe to threads. So these are the threads that I've supposedly posted to. There might be more, maybe in archives? Not sure how it works.

I go to my subscriptions and "delete" every few days to keep them at a more manageable level--especially if I'll be away for a few days. There are threads where I'll post an answer to someone; however, I'm really not interested in it on an ongoing basis. If it hasn't had any action in a few days--I delete. May read it in new posts when I come across it.

I don't seem to be being subscribed every time I post. The only ones i have in my subscriptions are the ones I consciously chose to be there by clicking the box where it says: Thread Subscription.

    That's confusing!

I don't seem to be being subscribed every time I post.

me too, every day I check my subscribed threads and it's always below 10 even if I feel like I'm posting up a storm. I also don't see older thread subscriptions, only new ones. I figured out how to see all my subscribed threads..

User CP, then Subscribed Threads then List Subscriptions.

I have a total of 108 subscribed threads right now.
shoulder length inverted bob; fine; 3A-3B; med-thick density; normal porosity; normal elasticity- my hair loves keratin, ACV, silk protein ,Curlkeeper and AG:Recoil ; seems to hate moisturizing products and oils except mineral oil; CG- Jan/'09-mod CG Sept/'09;CG again Jan/'10/mod CG from Mar'10

For anyone who's interested, you can change whether or not you're automatically subscribed to threads you post in by going into User CP, choose Edit Options, and change the setting under "Default Thread Subscription Mode."

Y'all make me feel so much better! I was up to almost 300. Usually I purge them occasionlly. Most recently I decided to just delete them all and I am starting over. I figure the really hot ones that I refer back to I will just bookmark.

I've tried bookmarking the ones I wanted to refer back to and they'd be there for a while but then out of the blue, I'd always get an error message saying "Error 404 - not found." I figured it must be from nc.com making a change to the board or server (which I think happens quite often). So then I started just subscribing to the ones I wanted to refer back to. If there's some secret to your bookmarking method, please let me know!

Zero. I didn't even know I could do this.
  • SpiralliSpiralli Posts: 3,677Registered Users Curl Connoisseur
Jusduit, I haven't started to do this yet, but I will let you know how it works out. I know people on other forums have mentioned they bookmark rather than subscribe so I wonder if other people have that error messae happen when they bookmark.

The best thing about the subscriptions (for me anyway) is that you can see all at once if anything new has been added to any of the topics you subscribe to, without having to actually go to any of the threads. I love that.

That's what I do. I go to the user CP to see any new posts to subscribed threads before reading new threads. Although I am subscribed to a ton of posts, the list may only show 8-10 active ones, so it's no big deal.

 I can't believe that I didn't know about this! I usually just hit New Posts or Subscribed threads under Quick Links. Your way is so efficient!

This is how I manage it as well.

ETA: Well, actually what I do is go to "Quick Links" drop down menu > "Subscribed Threads." That's the fastest way I've found to do it.
