Stop with the lycra in jeans!!!

xcptnlxcptnl Posts: 15,678Registered Users Curl Connoisseur
OK..I have purchased a couple pairs of jeans recently. And, like they tell me to, they fit VERY snug when I first put them on-to the point where I am thinking I will not be able to button them. But, even with that, within an hour I am tugging them up because they feel too loose.

I think companies have gone wild with the lycra in jeans. I think they need to stop with using so much in jeans. It is pissing me off because I want my jeans to fit for the whole day not just a 1/2 hour time frame while they are not too tight and not too loose.

I am right > < there w/ you on this. Enough! When I want jeans, let me where jeans. When I want leggings, let me wear leggings. Stop trying to make jeans that fit and look like leggings. *Sometimes* 1% Lycra is OK to add a little ease...but I'd prefer a return to the times when most jeans were 100% cotton.

    Yes!

I couldn't agree more. They fit, then they fall.

It makes blouses fit weird, too.

I thought it was just me.

I hate wearing jeans. They never stay fitting right.

Mine stay fitting right but they are just too clingy looking, like they are tights or leggings. You can see every contour of the lower half of my body...and that's just not what I want when I wear jeans.

I usually don't have those problems with the 1%, but when they get to 5%+ then they stretch and fall off. Mine don't fit that tightly to start with though, so maybe they don't stretch as much? :?

But I do like a tiny bit of give, it's easier on the knees when I sit. lol

Stretch jeans are the best invention ever, but I agree that they are using too much or doing something differently. They didn't used to stretch out so much.
Yep, tug tug tug all day long. I wear jeans every single day and it gets annoying.

CurliLocks is right, you can't go too high. I don't like more than 1%, maybe 2% lycra.

I hate when the butt gets baggy. Ugh! My butt is big enough already. I don't need it to look saggy, too.

Count me in here. During cooler weather, I probably wear jeans 5 out of 7 days. By the end of the day, I need a belt to keep up the same pants I could barely button in the morning.

    EXACTLY!!!

Oh I am so glad I am not alone in this frustration. I totally do not mind some stretch but they have gone beyond that by a lot!!

And in addition to the baggy butt I get crotch sag. So freaking unattractive. And I am sure I look like a freak yanking and tugging at my jeans everytime I move.

I love a little lycra in jeans. I never used to wear them before lycra because they were just plain uncomfortable. I agree about too much of a good thing though. The lycra factor should be low or they do stretch out too much.

they are using too much lycra. My favorite pairs only really fit on washday. When I try them on in the store, they are snug. 1% lycra is enough.

Agreed about too much of a good thing. I have a couple pairs that are so tight in the morning I can barely get in the damn car, but by the time I get where I'm going, I'm afraid they're going to fall off.

    Bad.

i need some jeans with a bit of stretch and cant ever seem to find any...

I don't own any jeans without stretch and haven't in years. All 20 or so pair of my various styles of jeans have lycra. I didn't know they still made jeans without stretch. Learn something new every day!

ok, so it's agreed. lycra is not working so great. Even 1% bugs me since i'm pretty petite and any difference in the fit is really noticeable. Who makes 100% cotton jeans???

I hate it too. The Gap has lycra-less jeans and it's about all I'll wear anymore.

Same here. Some have less than others and I did not realize the 2 pairs I recently bought had so much in them. When I try them on they are tight and I know they should be so I buy them. Arrgh. The ones I have recently bought were Gap 1969 brand and LC brand-both straight/skinny styles. It's funny-the one pair I bought from Chicos-black straight leg ones- (and I was embarrassed to admit I bought jeans there) are the ones that fit the best and apparently have less lycra in them. Go figure.

Some of my Lucky jeans are 100%. One pair has 1% spandex, but I could have sworn it was all cotton because it doesn't go anywhere. I do have one pair that is stretchy from them and it drives me nuts to feel them sliding.

The gap ones I just bought - the 1969 brand - have 2%. I think 2% is too much-1% should be the max I think.

i havent check my tags but i need stretch jeans. i'm pretty much in between sizes. if they actually fit my legs, they swim around my waist and i get the crotch sag. if they fit my waist, then they are tight on my legs and flatten out my butt!!! i really can only buy jeans from limited stores because i already know the fit. i can't venture out and just grab a size that is technically my size and have it fit!!!!! so with stretch jeans, i always buy the smaller size that fits my waist because i know the legs will eventually stretch out to fit me. i usually wear them around the house, do some lunges and stretches and eventually, they are my perfect my fit.

i guess i shouldnt go thru so much with jeans tho, right? now i'm sad. :-| i guess they can't make jeans that just fit!
