making own hair product...

Okay, so I want to make my own hair products.. (deep conditioner) but I have a few questions

What do you put into it to preserve it?

Where can you buy unrefined shea butter? (not online please)

I want to use banana.. but whenever I mash it, (and i mash it a lot) I get these little chunks of it that are hard to rinse out, gross! How do I get it so it's all mashed, and not chunky

Besides coconut milk, honey, shea butter, olive oil, and bananna, what are some good moisturizers, and is this combo okay?

There's a DT recipe in the "reader tips" section of this website that you may find helpful. I think it included honey, banana, avocado, and mayonnaise.

AS far as preservatives... sorry, no ideas. :( But maybe you could try putting the banana (or the whole mixture, for that matter) in a food processor or blender to get it pureed to a smoother consistency.

I would keep it in the fridge. The banana could get schivatz.

You could try pushing the banana through a sieve as you mash it perhaps? don't know if that will work or not but may be worth a try.

Whole Foods has it, if there's one near you. Also a BSS may have it.

I've seen recipes that call for a capsule of Vit E as a mild preservative, or a couple drops tea tree oil, an anti-bacterial.
